Don't know how old this news is. Mr. Hiromu Naruse was just killed in a car crash involving and LFA and A BMW.

Lol, yeah, but I think by 2013 we should at least be seeing an EV Supra and MR2.

Hope MR2 hybrid will at least get 31+ mpg in the real world as that's what I;m getting on my MK1 but literally flooring it everywhere.

I have to agree here. I recently drove the RX400h (CPO) and was pleased with the off the line power and the 26-28 mpg on the highway doesnt hurt either. Hopefully in the future we see more and more hybrids hit the market. I think the decrease in the gas prices as the economy fell axed some production plans for some manufacturers

Arrow Toyoda: New Supra Probably Will Not Happen

Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda "wants to see the next Supra tested in the near future." But the reality of his company's current circumstances means it's unlikely to happen.

During a discussion with U.S. journalists on Friday in Japan, Toyoda was asked about the possibility of building a car like a Supra that would appeal to enthusiasts. As such a huge company, Toyoda said, "even if one president says that we want to have a Supra again, the whole company is not going to be responding to that request."

Toyoda explained that he did much of his development as a driver behind the wheel of a Supra and has fond memories of flinging that model around the Nürburgring. Speaking through an interpreter, Toyoda told the group that "would like to create a car that is better than the Supra, and just for your information, I am not against this idea."

However, this discussion came against the backdrop of a week where Toyota officials acknowledged that the company had grown too quickly in the past decade and would need slow down and re-prioritize. Between ensuring that upcoming models are trouble free, meeting new fuel and emissions requirement and delivering the FT-86 by 2013, a new Supra is likely to remain just a dream for the foreseeable future.

^ Is it that my reading comprehension sucks, or is it that they can't report well?

Its a couple of things. One you are correct. Two GS69 is a Honda apologist who comes here to post negative Toyota news anyway possible here and on Honda sites while posting nothing good like the LFA being produced etc.

It's naruse-san's projects that will be the next gen supra, mr2, celica, ft, etc. I see it like this; The FT-86 we know is definite. Also, basing the Supra off the FT-HS isn't impossible and have seen stories from numerous other sites like atuocar saying this is true. The MRS hybrid was a project of Naruse, and was included in those stories. A celica based off the FT-86 wouldn't be out of the question either. Also with Toyota looking to get back into WRC next year I expect they will use that experience AGAIN to make a celica.

So the FT-86 is their 20-25K RWD Genesis Fighter/Drifter.
The MRS will be their sub FT-86 rwd car, light weight MX5 fighter
Celica will be based off FT-86 if released possibly WRC car
Supra will be based off FT-HS/FT-86 higher priced $40K+ chassis maybe shared with new Lexus SC

Also worth note is that there is to be an IS coupe for the next gen. So I think all these cars are going to be out in the next 3-5 years.

LFA, and IS-F. You don't think they are sporty enough for you?

And they have never come out with stupid press releases every other Friday.
