Spy shots: Touch-screen multi-mode suspension CBR spied
By Guy Procter
MCN’s spies have struck gold – ‘the original gold’ in fact – capturing this unique Fireblade (called Fireblade in Europe, Honda CBR in the States) with Multistrada-beating multi-mode suspension.
The development mule was spotted near the Swedish HQ of pre-eminent suspension firm Ohlins – architects of Ducati’s rapturously-received DES riding mode system on the new Multistrada 1200 S.
Unlike the Multistrada however, the Fireblade’s electronically-adjusted forks and shock are operated by a completely new touch-screen interface. It’s also the first time electronic suspension has been fitted to a road-going superbike.
Noriyuki Haga raced a similar set-up to a double win in the Vallelunga round of WSB in 2008 – prompting the FIM into a hasty ban.
What this means to you: You can turn a pure race bike into a user-friendly city bike with one touch.
