Default 2nd engine

2nd engine arrived with spun rod bearing probably from racetrack action with low oil. Checked IMS bearing freeplay at mounting stud & found zero freeplay.

I was amazed at how tight the crank carrier is around the crank throws, it's like the whole carrier is a crankshaft oil scrapper. I think you will really like the new parts arriving next week. Shiny!!

Porsche will not authorize their dealers to do any internal engine work just R&R remanufactured engines but I can spend arm & leg here! Do it nice or do it twice!

i'm scared just observing what you're doing, wondering if you can really get all those parts to work.

MAJOR props to you for attempting all this and you definitely seem to know what you're doing. i am definitely going to watch this thread to see your progress and eventual success!

The best part of doing this is complete control over how the tolerances stack. I'm a big fan of being able to set bearing clearances, ring end gaps, deck height, and squish to the numbers I want to see, not just what rolls off the assembly line.

I'm betting this will be the rare combination of powerful and reliable so often missing from factory builds.
