Coming for 2012

HERNDON, Va., Jul 23, 2010 - Audi today announced that pricing for the new 2011 R8 Spyder 5.2 quattro® supercar will begin at $161,000 with the first of the hand-assembled models reaching U.S. showrooms as soon as next month.

Audi also confirmed today that it intends to sell the Audi RS5 in the U.S. market starting in 2012. The high-revving 4.2-liter V8 engine in the Audi RS5 Coupe generates 450 horsepower. Like all Audi RS models sold in Europe and other markets, the RS5 Coupe applies its power to the road with quattro permanent all-wheel drive. Details on equipment levels, pricing and fuel economy standards will be released at a later date.

Wait what is the price?

Audi are always so over priced lol. The R8 is not even competitive with the Turbo Carbio, and its priced on the same level as the old F430 spyder and the LP560. Nice

Then again I would compare most people that buy Audi with the ones paying 1000 dollars on Ebay for the new Iphone 4

The biggest thing going for the RS5 is the A5 body that defines masculine elegance.

Power level similar to M3 and a mid-market 911, weight and overall performance that won't match either of them, priced above said mid-market 911 and way above M3.

Market fail. This will be a niche car for those who don't mind spending big to get the most loaded version of a good-looking car...or the Audi lover that wants to get less attention than the R8 will attract.

Guessing it's the same Lambo V10 as in the S6... would take that at $77K loaded unless this comes in at $75K which would be

$100K= NO

Whoops, just re-read... the 4.2 so it won't be as nose-heavy... intriguing, but we need a price.....................................................................

Spend an extra 10k-25k you can get the R8. An Audi that looks like a million bucks, and it looks 100000000000000x better than the RS5.
Did you seriously just compare an R8 and an RS5?????

Base Price:
$104,500

Audi claims acceleration to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.6 seconds — a scant 0.1 second slower than the time BMW quotes for the M3 with its own dual-clutch transmission.
Why do you consider this car a failure simply based on 0-60 times alone? I mean, I agree that 104K is a high price, but, as other posters in this thread have pointed out, it comes with a lot of equipment. Audi has some of the best fit/finish and interial-materials quality in the buisness. And the RS5 doesn't necessarily compete directly with the M3...there is also the much lower-priced S5 which also fits into the puzzle. Audi essentially competes with BMW with two lines of high-performance products (S and RS) to BMW's single M series.

Forget masculine/feminine. It defines elegance, period.

They are high to think they are going to move many of these. Although I did see a convertible M3 at a local dealership with a sticker of 83k. Thats almost as big of a joke

I don't think Audi expects to sell many of them. That's one reason why they traditionally limit the number of RS models they import. That being said, of course, I'm a firm believer that you can't sell what you don't produce.

It is great to know that Audi is selling RS5 in the U.S. I think it is still reasonable for the car to cost somewhere around $100k.

Because the price isn't justified by the performance or the luxury so what justification other than "just because" is there for putting it in that price bracket?

With BMW you know the M badge brings luxury and performance. But the S and RS models cost more than their competition and there is no justification I can see for it performance or luxury wise.

This car is a huge waste of money IMO I rather get a Carrera S and some pocket money...this car will probably perform as well as the Carrera S but never earn you the respect of the P-car...
