When I went to tech school, we had a competition where we had to disassemble a Ford Taurus, pull the engine and trans, and then reassemble it, the funny part was no one could come close to the guys from Union City NJ, which was a car theft capital back then in 98 and it had to start and run.

I don't remember the time but it was like 5 minutes to pull apart, with the removal on engine and trans, all the heavy stuff and 13 to put back together

Interesting, but a pro shop can do that in under 10 on just about every car made. Civics aren't exactly a model of hidden fasteners or strange mounting methods for body panels or parts.

Anyone heard the joke about the gynecologist who decided to learn to be a mechanic after feeling he was ripped off?

He took the class, then prepared for the test, which was to disassemble an engine, then reassemble it.

Upon receiving his score of 150%, he approached the instructor. The instructor said to him that the disassembly was 50%, the assembly was 50%. He then inquired how he could get 150% then, and the instructor replied very simply: no one else did it through the exhaust.

Remember when people were stealing TL/CL headlights in 10 seconds by popping them out?

Are we saying that it take 10 sec to remove the Acura HID and no other damange is done to the car? No HID are snap on snap off, the theive did a considerable damage to the car when they remove the HID light from Acura or any car for that matter.

Yes and early versions of watercooled Boxster and 911 Litronic headlight assemblies too, quite valuable.

Some Nissans (specifically, I think, Altimas and Maximas), also had a problem with headlight-theft a few years ago.

A lot of of this, as with the more complex air-bag, GPS, and stereo thefts, is centered on unscrupulous repair shops, who would rather use convieniently stolen parts than actually pay for them. And Xenon/HID bulbs, in some cases (not all), can run some pretty good cash, especially compared to the older halogen bulbs.
