Come'on Toyota Canada....give us something at least
Ok, so Toyota Canada has decided to give us the 2011 Avalon with a whopping one XLS option with no options or anything.
We do get the luxury of choosing one of six colours but the interior trim has been decided for us.
So it looks like Toyota is going to let the Avalon die a nice slow death while all the choice is over at Lexus with the ES.
Come'on Toyota, at least go fully loaded like the Limited in the US

Does the Avalon sell well in Canada?
If not, there is no need to expand it. Save the effort for something that will work well with Canadian climates and styles, which leans towards AWD cars/truck/crossovers. And with Canadian pricing and taxes, a well-equiped Camry is a much better bargain than the fully-loaded one-model Avalon.
Do you want ALL models of Toyota to sell well everywhere? It seems like you post about Toyota numbers like you want everyone to buy it until there is two Toyotas per person in the world. You're ragging again...

Probably not a big seller at all. It isn't even mentioned in press releases. Here is a press release for last month
Most cars sold in Canada are compact/subcompact/CUVs. I'm willing to bet the Avalon is probably below the 4Runner in terms of sales before the 2011 MY.
* Toyota sells more Canadian-built vehicles in Canada than any other manufacturer, with 50% of sales coming from these models: made-in-Canada Toyota RAV4, up 27.3% and 2,388 Toyota Matrix, up 70.6% (best ever March for both models)
* Toyota Trucks up 39.4%, at 6,927 (best ever March)
* 2,043 Toyota Camry, up 95.9%
* 1,207 Toyota Venza, up 76.5% (best ever March)
* 968 Toyota Tacoma 4x4, up 73.8% (best ever March)
* 760 Toyota Tundra 4x4, up 41.0%
* 341 Toyota Prius, up 130.4%
* 177 Toyota 4Runner, up 247.1%
* Toyota Trucks up 39.4%, at 6,927 (best ever March)
* 2,043 Toyota Camry, up 95.9%

And that, right there, is part of the problem with some automakers......tunnel vision. Subaru, for example, for years, simply did not believe that the Impreza WRX and STI would sell in America...and then found out how wrong they were when they finally tried it. We also see that with the continuing refusal of many automakers to bring more diesels and wagons/hatchbacks here to America.

Avalon sales in the U.S. have really dropped off since the current gen was introduced AND since the currrent gen ES350 came out.
Perhaps they figure there isn't just that big of a market anymore for it in Canada. There isn't much change in the 2011 model, so they are playing it conservative.
