Default How does the Citroen C5 stack up against the Jaguar XF and MB E class? Quite well!

This is a comparison between the top-of-the-line Citroen C5 V6 HDI 240 Biturbo, Mercedes E350 CDI Blue Efficiency and Jaguar XF 3.0 V6 Diesel.

I was a bit annoyed that no fuel consumption values were given. They only mentioned that the E350 CDI only needed 7.9 L / 100 km with their aggressive driving style - that's about 35 mpg. No values for the XF or C5 were provided.

Overall, though, the C5 does quite nicely against these two cars which are of course a league above it. Man, if only I had a guaranteed parking space spot, I would have gone for a C5 instead of a BMW 1 series. Nevertheless, I do like the 1er.

The finishing order of the review was as follows:

1st place: Mercedes E 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY (3157/5000 points)
+ the most fuel-efficient car in this comparison, the quickest, most comfortable, fully-loaded with safety features, good standard features, refined engine, great interior quality and workmanship
- slow transmission shifts, some transmission shifts can be felt at low speeds, lack of sporty character, high prices

3.0 V6 CDI 231-horsepower
0-100 km/h in 7.0 s,
RWD / 7-speed automatic
250 kph top speed
Price 50,992 €

2nd place: Jaguar XF 3.0 V6 Diesel (3015/5000 points)
+ driving dynamics are sporty and agile, sportiest car in this test, responsive and well-weighted steering feedback, good standard features, refined engine, great interior quality and workmanship, best brakes
- comfort suffers as a result of suspension setup, interior ergonomics are a bit confusing, the cabin feels a cramped compare to its test rivals, high insurance rates and prices, low guarantee rates, low on safety features

3.0 V6 241-horsepower
0-100 km/h in 7.7 s,
RWD / 6-speed automatic
240 kph top speed
Pice 51,200 €

3rd place: Citroën C5 V6 HDi 240 Biturbo FAP (2990/5000 points)
+ excellent value for money, many standard features, very comfortable, agile and refined motor, great interior workmanship and quality
- driving dynamics are completely comfort-biased, vague steering feedback, low payload capacity due to hydropneumatic suspension

3.0 V6 241-horsepower
0-100 km/h in 7.6 s,
FWD / 6-speed automatic
240 kph top speed
Price 38,900 €
