Default What are your thoughts on the Toyota/Lexus recalls?

Toyota admits they have cut back on the quality and safety of there vehicles. My father has owned serveral toyota's and lexus's throughout the years and never had any problems. I always thought highly of the company and would put them ahead of any automaker out there. Im in the market for a used IS250 in the next couple of months. But im honestly thinking twice about it. Are any of you worried about your cars? If you knew about all these problems that are coming out now before you bought your car, would you still have bought it?

I'm not worried in the least bit. Damn good company, damn good quality. Just read consumer reports.

My mom had a corolla back in the early 90's. She didn't know she should change the oil. She went 90,000 miles without changing the oil and never had a problem.

its not even an issue to me anymore. people are overly hyping the recall, fearing that toyota's reliability is at stake, which of course it is nowhere close to that. at the end of the day, people will still buy toyota, especially once toyota realizes that it must start fresh and rebuild their reliability reputation.

I stopped listening to the media after the Swine Flu scare. If they had their way, we'd all be dead by now from the sickness

For every defected Toyota/Lexus, there are a million that are not. That is how I look at it... the odds. So not worried at all, just pissed the media is not helping my resale value.

My friends dad had a 80 something corolla and went 40,000+ without an oil change without a problem.

Im sure Toyota will pull through this and will be the great company that they once were. They'll get over this.

For the last few years people have been complaining and complaining that the current Toyota's are not like the Toyota's from yesteryear. That and the fact that the automotive press have noticed that Toyota quality has been slipping it is no wonder that perhaps things have finally caught up with Toyota....no we also hear rumors that the Toyota president will admit that the company grew to fast....people have been saying for a while that Toyota can't keep up to their growth.

Not really sure what to make out of all this....I just hope Toyota hasn't been covering this up...

My 2006 IS350 is a daily driver with 69k miles on it. I have autocrossed my car in about 40 events (around 250 runs) and had two track days. It has never gotten stuck and I still have the same confidence I had when I bought the car as I do now.

I am glad the news is covering it to prevent deaths, but it seems that ABC is the only one that is trying to drag Toyota through the mud and then some.

It's all a hoax! There's no such thing as Toyota's that accelerate on their own. Driver error. (excluding the very rare floor mat issue)

My thoughts?
I'd buy another Toyota or Lexus today if I was in the market.
No doubt Toyota quality is down some but this whole acceleration issue with Congress and the media is a witch hunt against Toyota.
