I guess people may have different opinions.........but my point is this:

If these people chose not to get a college degree, fine that's their choice......but they also have to deal with the consequences AND the realities just like what is happening now. They thought that everything would bode well for them by earning more than what a non-union worker gets.......

Now the reality has come to bite them back in the ***.

The world is changing and if these labor unions don't get with the times and changing conditions, then no doubt that they will start fading and thus cease to exist.

I do admit that they were once effective in contributing to economy and business........but now, they have sunk low.

In this context, it's further proof that socialist bull**** does not work for the American auto industry.

I mean seriously 'six figures in American dollars'......just to stay on a ladder.

Then when they lose their jobs, they whine and ***** like spoiled brats........

Simply pathetic.

The solution: If they think what they're earning is not enough, then they should've gotten a degree.

Nuff said.......

The rapidly declining ranks of the UAW will continue to whine. IMO having both an education and marketable skills are a better route as I learned from my parents.

I can't wait for all unions, especially the construction unions, to go down. I feel no sympathy for them, in fact I laugh at their sad state. Hope they all get janitorial positions at fast food restaurants

I have no sympathy for unions and its workers. Overpaid, underskilled, under-educated and poor-mannered. IMO unions are almost like legalized gangs.

Thank you, I have worked at a GM plant when I was younger and have friends who work for GM and their take home pay is nowhere near $50-$70 an hour, it is around $22-$30 an hour depending on shift prem, COL, and time in. A decent wage but nothing outrageous, nowhere close to what German automakers make and similar to what many non union Toyota/Honda plant workers make in America when you factor in bonuses. Those $50-$70 an hour figures count pension and benefits into salary. Japanese auto workers also have unions and make good wages, it is not just what auto workers are payed that is the problem. If the big 3 made better cars and better decisions and people bought them then what they pay workers would not be a big factor.

Car companies in most cases make very big profits which is why they can afford to pay their workers a decent higher then average wages, if they did not pay the autoworkers a fair wage it would just go into the executives and CEOs pockets.

I am not trying to defend the UAW as I don't care for the way they operate and think they contribute more negativity to the whole situation but I do think autoworkers and factory workers/blue collar workers deserve to get a decent wage they can raise a family on and should not just be relegated to minimum wage or low wages just because they have no college degree. I have a college degree so it is not like I am just taking a side because I never went to college. The last thing I would want to hear or experience is for my employer to cut my salary in half and then for people to say if you want a decent wage just go back to school and get a Masters Degree. There is no where close to enough jobs in this country to support blue collar workers getting a diploma if they want a decent wage. There are not enough jobs right now for college graduates let alone more so just saying go to college if you want a decent wage is not going to work.

From my experience working at a GM plant and knowing GM workers those type of guys unfortunately do exist there like in that video but don't represent all or most of the workers there. Most of my experiences with autoworkers have been positive and I was surprised how many went to college, technical schools, have degrees, and who are conservatives and not your typical uneducated blind union loudmouth democrat supporter like they are often portrayed as, many do not like the UAW or that they are forced to pay into it and keep away from the volatile union meetings.

In my opinion it is better for the UAW to just take a back seat in bad times with their demands or go away altogether but paying autoworkers low wages is not going to solve anything with the big 3. Cuts need to be made to the high cost of benefits and pensions but I am not bothered with autoworkers who go into those hot dirty plants day in and day out and do those crappy sometimes dangerous jobs making $22-$30 an hour whether they have a college degree or not.

i am so tired of all these union crap. who gives a crap... it's business, it's companies... they companies do good, they expect raises. when companies do bad, they expect to still be hired? give me a break. i am in a business where everyone fights for their survival. if you are not good, you are out. if you are good, you will find a way
