So now there going after the Escalade/Navigator crowd
What a divergence from the first soccer mommy commercial and still no mention of offroading. Go figure.

By making an ad with Ryan Leslie and showing it on BET they're clearly going for the same demographic that buy Escalades/Navigators. I'm not saying that the GX is an Escalade/Navigator competitor. I'm just saying Lexus is targeting those buyers with this ad.
And this is after their corny soccer mom ad. Lexus isn't even being a little subtle with who they want to buy the GX: Soccermoms and Hiphop artist.
Not yet has there been one ad about what the GX is really about, and that is offroading

Lexus may not be totally focusing on it's true "off-road" capabilities but lets face it, majority of people who buy the GX and LX for that matter are not going to take the car off the asphalt.

I also have no idea who Ryan Leslie is.
What I can appreciate is Lexus going after different demographics and showing marketing/advertising diversity. That is a wonderful thing.
I live in Atlanta....and Escalades with the big 20s and/or rims are driven by just as many white people as black people. Driving in Buckhead often, it is a soccer mom dream and the demographics there are the complete opposite of South Atlanta.
Trust me, Escalade buyers have hardly any interest in anything else. They love the big Caddy grill, the big size, the Bling. To Caddy's credit the Escalade is actually a pretty good vehicle today and no longer a Silverado with a roof and wood trim.
I completely see your point on the Escalade "image" of being a rapper car and black person's vehicle. Cadillac THEMSELVES said they are quite unsure how to handle this "image". However looking at SALES, the Escalade sells like hotcakes every month and it is NOT a cheap vehicle (though there are tons of incentives).
To be honest I don't understand the hate for "soccer moms" and their choice of vehicle. Clearly they are a GIANT slice of the sales pie. To avoid them would be completely foolish.
Its funny reading about being a hybrid owner now. I am supposed to be a nutty liberal who blogs with Al Gore, eats tofu and has sex once a year while blaming penguin farts and my neighbors for global warming.
