1SICKBLOG: My dream racing series....
I'm going to cut to the chase here and say I want to see a "stock" racing series. I'm talking about dealers maybe having a series where they race their demos in a 40-50 lap race tops. No stripped cars, no slicks, no crazy aero dynamic ad ons.
I would love to see the IS-F, M3, RS4, C63, CTS-V square off for instance. Stock. 50 laps. Lets see who really is fastest. Lets see who's brakes hold up. Let's see who breaks down or doesn't. Lets see what OEM tires really are the better choice.
Want to add a twist? I would award points to those driving teams that had passengers. These are sport SEDANS, not 2 seaters right? I would award points if they had luggage.
Something more based in reality. I think that is why the 24 hours of lemons is so fun and its growing so fast. Its cheap and its fun and REALITY. Understand I am not taking anything away from F1, Indy, Nascar, etc
That is why the SPEED Touring, GT, challenge really appeals to me. They are much closer to production cars. They still though are very race like.
We could have classes and an all inclusive class. Maybe a Mazdaspeed 3 will surprise more expensive vehicles.
Points would be awarded for MPG. The less gas used, well you get more points. This racing will reflect the real world. I'm thinking maybe even have them go through a simulated drive thru and see how well the cupholders work.
There are so many wonderful cars out there and they simply do not race. Racing is expensive, a VERY expensive sport. So make a cheap race so dealers and even privateers can afford it.
Imagine this lining up against one another, exhaust rattling, Beethoven blasting from those optional speakers ...

Oh and if factory performance parts are offered, they can be used in the race.
What do you think? What are your race ideas?

The GT-R would suck all of those cars into it's massive air intake and blow them all out of its exhaust. It's that magical...

[quote=05EX;4982130]This may be pushing your rules, but would a tuner car qualify? If so here's my entry.

Is it only me or does the rear valence remind you of....

I agree. I think if you want to see this kind of race watch a top gear episode. You will find a majority of the car mentioned

Lol, I actually forgot about the GT-R. Yes, Tuner cars would be able to strut their stuff.

Not to be the wet blanket on what is a great vision , but I don't think any wheel-to-wheel competition will get past not having safety equipment (roll cages, approved seats / harnesses, fire suppression of some kind, electrical cutoff). Example - low budget 24 hours of Lemons requires all those items.
Once you get into modifying the car for these items you will often change the suspension dynamics / stiffness, weight distribution, etc.
When lawyers get involved they (allegedly )) tend to ruin fun stuff.

I'd run without all the safety crap ....I'd be dead last and slow as ****e....but it sure would be fun.

I would like to stay with the original theme & oem safety equipment. The track can be designed to limit speeds for safety. Tuner cars can be allowed once they have 500 licensed & registered for street use in USA

Good points on the safety stuff. And it reminds us as to why the safest cars tend to be quite heavy for their size.
