Official Infiniti Q70 (M37/56) thread

Refreshes in general are usually minor changes. This refresh actually looks much more substantial than any refresh I've seen from any other luxury brand in recent years. This updated design looks fantastic in my opinion and looks like the older brother of the Q50, as it should. You've had a year and a half to clear your confusion on the name change. If Audi A4, A6, Q5, Q7 doesn't confuse you, then neither should Infiniti Q50, Q70.
Also the name change still confuses me too. I have no idea what is what in the line up. All i know is the Q50 because the marketing department actually did their job with that car. The rest? Im oblivious.

^I do think the naming scheme will become more clear as models are fully redesigned. To many of us, we first think, "M37/56...oh...Q something....Q70?" because this sheet metal was originally introduced with the M name.
With Q50, I do not think "G" because the car has been Q50 from the start. It's going to be awkward for the next few years, until all models are completely redesigned.

The M became a "flop" due to the 2011 redesign (although you and I both know that was never the case here, as they're everywhere). The M was a sales success with the previous generation and routinely sold as well (sometimes better) than the Lexus GS. They dropped the ball big time when the current generation came out in styling and that's what hurt them. This refresh is a big step up and should help bring sales back up to where they were before 2011.

I would say that adding length to an existing car is pretty significant (more than a simple refresh) but I don't think this will spike sales. The competition in the segment is just too powerful right now and Infiniti needs to answer with a brand new product here. It's coming but not soon enough.

Sales will stay the same unless they are planning some incredible marketing blitz. Though they did that with the M35h last year during the NCAA tournament and it didn't help one iota.

So you bash the Camry refresh and then call this a big set up? And you expect sales which are around a dismal 400 units a month to go back to 2011 levels which I think were 1200-1500 units a month? Sales are going to quadruple with LEDs, some chrome and a LWB no one will know about.

Pre-2011 M sales were around 2000/month (give or take) during the 2005-2008 years, as was the case of the previous generation GS.

I was not that big fan of a cabin when it debuted because to me it looked like they were still stuck in early 2000s, which of course they were, but now I appreciate it a lot more. It has that SC430 vibe to it.
.... OMG am I just getting older and tad bit nostalgic like everything was better back in the day?

So as I said, the previous generation M & GS had similar sales numbers and the M sometimes outsold the GS.
