extended warranty versus mechanical breakdown insurance
Hello CL members. I have a question non related to lexus. We just bought a nissan altima hybrid with a fidelity extended warranty and I am considering cancelling it. I believe I can buy an extended warranty from Nissan when the basic warranty is about to expire or I can purchase the geico MBI insurance within 15 months or 15k miles. I priced out the Nissan warranty at 36 months and right now it's $1372 with zero deductible or if purchased now $1292. The MBI is $28 every six months and has a $250 deductible per occurence. Either way, I figure it was cheaper to put the money for the extended warranty we just bought in the bank and accumulate interest on it for future repairs or warranties.
What's everyone opinion on extended versus MBI or just forget about either? I still need to read what I need to do to make sure i am covered. I've been reading horror stories on the web on loopholes Fidelity has used to get out of paying claims.
