Default Penske owned Lexus dealerships using Corolla loaners

The Phoenix area Lexus dealerships owned by Penske, Scottsdale Lexus and Chandler Lexus have replaced Lexus service loaner cars with Toyota Corollas.
So much for the Lexus Experience.

It's just temporary until they can get some Saturn loaners:

WRONG- No leather, but they do have a high mileage, low power engine.

Did you reserve a loaner before heading in?

Yes, I reserved a loaner in advance but they didn't mention the switch from Lexus loaners to Corollas. This is my 9th Lexus so I know the drill. Fortunately there are other local Lexus dealers that still offer Lexus loaners. I'll go there for my future service and purchases.

Did you ask the service manager what was up?

I spoke to several people including the GM. I get the sense that this is a corporate policy change by Penske. Nobody bad-mouthed the change but I could tell they weren't thrilled by it. They have to know this is going to drive away business.

Anyone else out there seeing this at other Penske-owned Lexus dealerships?

I think the important thing to do is not only take your service business elsewhere, but be sure you let the dealership know you're taking your service business elsewhere...and WHY.

It shouldn't be like them having a service meeting 3 months from now saying "We've seen a 30% drop-off in the last 3 months...we're not sure why." It needs to be "OK, we've received 45 phone calls from customers in the last 3 months telling us they're taking their business elsewhere specifically because we no longer give out Lexus loaner cars."

Yes, they said Toyota IS Lexus, so it's just like your Lexus, only more economical.

At least it's better than Mercedes Benz giving Chrysler PT Cruiser loaners...
