There is a new voice in town and like the previous voice over actor, his name happens to be James too.
Who is this new James you may ask? His name is James Remar. Some of you may know him as one of Samatha Jones (Kim Cattrall) boyfriends on the popular HBO show, Sex and the City. He was also casted in movies such as 48 Hours, The Phantom and also 2 Fast 2 Furious. Remar has narrated the latest commercial ads for the new RX spots. He will also be the voice for future Lexus ads.
For 20 years since the inception of Lexus, we have seen, heard and lived the many "Relentless" and "Passionate" evolutions featuring that distinct voice. That distinct voice belongs to actor James Sloyan. Although we will miss the original Lexus voice, we will never forget those original Lexus benchmark commercials and the regal narration that Sloyan established for the industry. Think LS400 commercials and the infamous champagne glass smoothness test. Thank you Mr. Sloyan for all the years of Lexus pursuits.

Just this morning I heard a radio ad with the familiar voice of James Sloyan, the original voice of Lexus. He was narrating a commercial for Mitsubishi Lancer Evo and even going about saying the Lexus IS F is a lot more expensive than the Evo! Wow, talk about bitter.

Yeah, I heard that today and was going to post it
He also did a commercial for AM/PM...."too much good stuff".

Actor James Sloyan is out as the only ad voice-over for Toyota's Lexus brand. The lux marque, which used the deep-voiced wonder since its arrival in 1989, has switched to actor James Remar, maybe most known for his role as Kim Cattrall's bad-boy, rich boyfriend on HBO's "Sex and the City." A Lexus spokeswoman said the marketer wanted a voiceover that "could appeal to a broad audience that can encapsulate our brand as it moves forward." Lexus "did a lot of research" and found that Remar's pipes filled the bill, she said. Several auto pundits are aghast, criticizing the automaker and its shop, Team One, for discarding the strong brand equity Sloyan brought to its ads. Two of those experts said the rationale was Sloyan portrayed "old luxury," which has been under attack from aggressive competitor Audi. On a Lexus owners' site, clublexus.com, all but a few of the 15 respondents said they liked Sloyan in the ads.

The new RX350, as far as I'm concerned, is a superbly-engineered vehicle (see my recent review), although the new wishbone suspension, even with 60-series tires, rides just a hair firmer than I like (more so than the old one) and I don't care for the mouse-drive device on the console. But the drivetrain smoothness and noise isolation, like the LS460, approaches perfection. So far, it is one of my favorite non-Subaru AWD vehicles (the BMW 335xi is another) and a serious candidate for my next purchase, if I decide to spend 40K.

I personally like the new voiceover. Slightly different but not jarringly different from Sloyan. Gives the Lexus ads a "new" feel to them.
Slightly off topic: I wonder how many ladies you could get smooth talking with a voice like Sloyan's lol

Just heard the Sloyan Mitsubishi commercial, something like "according to Intellichoice...is it BMW? No. Lexus? No...It's Mitsubishi"
Best wishes to him, ah between Jim Press and Jim Farley, and James Sloyan, seems there's no loyalty these days. J/K; Mr. Sloyan was let go, and he has to make a living, plus Mitsubishi needs all the help it can get, so more power to them.
Just hearing Mr. Remar's voice, there's a quality about it that seems a bit more distinctive vs. the Audi/BMW voice, and also the Acura/Infiniti voice; the closest I can think is the Mercedes voice used lately.
