I've been a member of that forum for years. THe OP there seems to be a tool and they are looking for PROOF it is his car. That thread was started in Nov.
There seems to be an active IS-F owner in that thread, I wonder if he is here too?
Hell the 996 has rear seal problems galore....

I dont think you will find to many people who bad mouth the GTR on this forum. Its a great car. Better than anything the german, italians, or americans have ever put out in this price range. Most 1st generation cars are going to have teething problems. I am not making excuses for Godzilla, but I am sure the people with this problem are few and far between.

Nissan sucks in this regard. why the fak did they put it out if they didn't thoroughly test it?
while nissan wants to remove launch control next year, Porsche on the other hand, is putting it into the boxter and the cayman.
have you heard of porsches getting blown trannies from launch control?
nissan should go talk to porsche.

I believe there are some problems. However, I honestly feel some of these people are abusing the car. Nissan should offer the owners a driving class after they purchase the car. Why would you be using launch control over over again anyway. Honestly if I test drove a GTR I probably would blow the Trans. Do you see all the different configurations you can change in that car?
I hope people stop compare there cars to a GTR! It is not even close. The hardest thing you do in your car all day is downshift man Hyundai can do that, that is nothing special.
Please give me a break on the statement that they did not test the car enough. Man people have been talking about this car for what the past 5 years.
Lastly, I do believe Nissan should replace the owner’s transmission at least one time no matter what. After that NO!!

Nissan had a lot of problems when the 300Z came out in 90, and didn't really get rid of them till 92 / 93... hence why I bought a 96.
I think it comes with the territory of a new car design and limited testibility vs long term ownership and "real life" environment.
I'm not a big fan of the GT-R, as I'm not too thrilled with the size / shape of it, but it'd be foolish to act like it ain't badazz.
