Default Ferrari becoming affordable??

So we always throw around dollar figures for cars like it's nothing. $55k for this car, $65k, for that car, $80k for the new LS, etc...

But - has anyone else been surprised at how affordable mid to late 90s Ferrari cars have become lately?

I know the maintenance would be a huge cost issue however I had no idea you could pick up a 1995-1997 F355 Ferrari for roughly $60-65k

Case in point:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ferra...mZ190256838085

You can have this for $70k now!

Go right ahead. Feel free to spend 70K on that thing - I'd rather get a Z06 or GTR if I were to want a sports car.

Dang I would get that thing over a GTR or a Z06 lol.

Touching that thing is like a bliss, what a piece of art.

This statement is like seeing a pic of Scarlett Johansen and saying "imagine her with a nice Prada purse," wheels are the last thing on my mind when looking at a pic of this car. Besides, the stock wheels look good anyway

And I think older Ferraris have always been relatively cheap, but the maintenance is absolutely ridiculous. And there are tons of cars out there that have surpassed the F355's performance for much less, so all you'd really be buying would be the styling, image, and sound (which could very well be a good enough reason)

Now THAT looks dated!

Almost a "nostalgia" or "period correct" look.

I still love the 355 - it's certainly hard to beat the sound.
A car like this would have to be a third or fourth car- forget about
driving it daily, the maintenance would kill you.

Clutch? Engine has to come out... that will be $8,000 with labor.
The early F1 transmission cars had lots of issues. Buy a 97+ model!

The smart-guy car would be a used NSX. Arguably they have actually held
their value better, with 91-92 versions still getting $25-$30K. And the NSX
is a reliable exotic, one you can live with and drive daily.

But there's still something about that Prancing Horse....

getting ferrari for 70-80k isn't anything new anymore, there are a lot of time for around that price

but if that's just want you pay attention on, bad idea. look at the price for oil change and maintenance. if you think lexus dealerships are ripping you off with all the services, think again a 80k ferrari might not be cheap after all

Most cars decline in value. What stays the same is parts and labor. Replacing a clutch on an F430 now vs 10 years later will be about the same. It's no secret that maintenance on a Ferrari is killer.

The 328 GTS & Mondial are the least expensive Ferrari's one can buy. I've seen a few samples in NYC in the 30k range..

If you can afford to buy the Ferrari, but you CAN'T afford the insurance and maintenace, then you REALLY CAN'T afford to own a Ferrari...

I love Exotics, but you still have to have money above the average guy in order to afford the maintenance on a used one! If I dropped all my money into a GT-R or an M3, I would have to only pay insurance and my payment!

With all that said though, give me 2-3 years and I will buy one of these Ferraries!!!
