Celebrity Endorsements and Luxury Cars
I just finished watching the "New" Toyota ads featuring Eli Manning. The guy who won the Superbowl MVP this last year for you non-football fans.
Well anyway it always struck me how car manufacturers like all other companies use celebs to push their products in which they probably don't use. Only thing here is that the Luxury marquees i.e. our beloved Lexus, MB and all those other German brands don't go that route.
Are we really supposed to believe that Derek Jeter pushes a Ford Edge or Kim Kardashian rides in a Pontiac G6 coupe (hasn't happened yet but I wouldn't mind seeing it, lol). I always found it interesting that significant portion of their target audience is rarely if ever used in their ad campaigns. The only exception I see is with the American Luxury brands Lincoln and Caddilac. Did I mention that I love those Caddy's ads?? While I understand that these brands don't really need a celeb to sell their cars as they pretty much sell themselves for various reasons, but I always thought it would be cool and actually believable. But yeah what's your take on this guys?

The upper luxury brands do not need celebrities to sell them, the brand sells itself (Porsche, Benz, Lexus, etc.) On occasion though, sometimes the luxe brands have used them as well. Lexus used music artists for its ads on the Mark Levinson system, and for a time Benz had Cybill Shephard as the 'crazy for Mercedes' spokeswoman who terrified salesmen on her test drives.

LMAO @ loaded. Sick ur too much. Loaded as in power windows and anti-lock brakes. As for the John Legend and Elvis Costello ads, how did I miss those? And yeah I love the idea of Tiger hopping in to his Buick. But why is it that only the American Lux brands traditionally use celebrities and not the Japanese or Germans?
