Default Hanging out at the Cactus Car Wash

And what do I see roll up? Yep. A brand spanking new GTR!

Pardon the cell phone pics, but it was all I had with me.

The owner (in the khaki shorts) was very cool and chatted for a bit while my IS350 was getting interior detailing.

As funny as it sounds, I asked him about the drive down from Virginia. He said "It's no Lexus" before he even knew what I was driving, then mentioned he drives an IS350 for his daily. His only words to describe the GTR - "it's a BEAST." So there you have it. Get your car detailed on Friday morning in Buckhead and spot a new GTR. Nice!

I'm pretty sure he is talking about comfort, driving from Virgina to Georgia in a (most likely) stiff car, can't be good

I still haven't seen one on street, considering I live in Southern California.

Saw one in So Cal (Arcadia) earlier this weekend. I couldn't help but catch up to the car just to take a quick look.

I think if I could buy any sporty car right now, this is the one I'd get.

To be honest, I'll be more hyped to spot a Aston Martin DBS, Maserati Grand Tourismo, or even a Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano than this car...

I know it's a beast to drive but it really is not a looker.

so true. I went from a Lexus RX300 to a 350Z (2003 is the uber stiff/bouncy model which I had). The love affair lasted about 6 mo's until I sold it, such uncomfortable daily driver I can't imagine how much stiffer the GTR is.

Exactly. He said for a long trip the IS350 wins hands down. I have to agree. I drove from Sacramento to Atlanta three times last year in May when we moved. The Scion tC was OK, but lacked passing power. The Supra was stiff as hell on Tein HAs even set 16 clicks out from full tight. I drove the IS 350 alone, and I made Dallas in 27 hours 47 minutes (1704 miles) with minimal stops, and felt fine when I arrived. I finished the drive the next day (after a 14 hour stop and some sleep) in 11 hours 42 minutes (813 miles). It was fully loaded with the last of my stuff from California, and I felt like I could have done it again the next day.

I could not say that about the Supra. It was punishing, especially on I-40 from Amarillo to Oklahoma City. Frost heaves in the concrete were especially loud and occasionally alarming enough to make me check my wheels for damage.

Car Wash?

He wasn't putting a brand-new car that expensive through one of those finish-grinding machines, was he? (Although several hundered miles from VA to GA on the Interstates may have already put a couple of nicks in it)

It's illegal to wash your car in your driveway in Atlanta. Either you go to the car wash or you leave your car dirty. Water shortages suck.
