How much does a car salesperson make?
#4
Anywhere from $15000 and losing their job every 2 months to $150000+ delivering 130+ cars a year.
Depends on where you work, commission plan, experience, skill, and personality.
In my first year I earned just over $60000 at a Nissan dealer that I manage at now. But I was an exception, typically most make $25000-$35000 1st year. Don't expect to make quick money, it takes time to learn to be able to close consistently.
There are 2 guys at my dealer that earn well over $100000 but they each have 20 years experience and a huge standing customer base.
You always hear "stories" of guys pulling in $250000 per year, who hire their own staff, etc...

all in all, with the way the car industry, disposable incomes, and the economy in general, even with a decent salarie i would NOT want to be a car salesperson, even if it was selling little gas efficient hybrid garbage.

there's this lady at the mercedes dealership i always go to. She pulled in around $350k a year for the last 10 years. Her customer base is so big she has to schedule them in to see her. It's pretty crazy.

I remember watching one of his videos - that guy was some salesman!.
In the UK a decent premium marque (Audi, BMW, Lexus) salesman should make between $80,000 and a $100,000 per annnum. If they're not making that they'll probably get the boot anyway.

Depends on the dealer pay plan and how much your heart is into it. I know a salesperson that works the service lane at his dealership. He grabs a few sales a month just from doing that. I know another salesperson that works the lot at his store on Sundays when the dealership is closed. There are always customers who walk the lot on Sundays.
Bottom line, if you do what it takes to get the job done, you can make a pretty good career selling cars.
