Default What do you think about the Porsche Cayenne Turbo

My uncle is interested in a nicer SUV with some power. He feels that every other SUV just looks a little weak next to this one. He likes the power, and the numbers, but has yet to drive one. The Audi Q7 is his second choice, but he thinks of this one like the others, somewhat weak.

Would the Cayenne Turbo be a good buy or would it be a waist of money?

Thanks Guys

I wouldn't spend the money on a Cayenne Turbo unless I was interested in driving fast everywhere I go. Then again, if I was interested in going fast everywhere, I wouldn't buy an SUV at all. A super fast SUV doesn't really make sense to me

He was also considering the Maserati Quattroporte, but he doesnt want to have to worry about it where ever he goes. The Cayenne Turbo will give him power when he needs it, but he wont have to worry about it at the store, it just looks like a normal SUV, so people won't bother it.

Why would he "worry about it wherever he goes"? It sounds like he's a bit insecure--tell him to buy what suits his needs, and stop concerning himself with what other people think.

No, he'd worry about it getting scratched, or bumped or having something happen to it. Trust me, he's NOT insecure.

Fast for an SUV, but horrendously unreliable. In fact, the Cayenne is singlehandedly responsible for dropping Porsche's reliability as an entire brand from the top 5 manufacturers to the bottom 5 for several years (though they're back up to # 9 again this year, thanks to the remarkable Cayman).

As was previously mentioned, lease it, and get rid of it before the warranty expires if he absolutely must have one.

If your Uncle doesn't mind having the smallest Suv on the Market go for it! My brother used to have one and they are tiny. If he wants a fast car that is in the same price range check out an ML63, it's faster and roomier inside..And nobody can ever go wrong with a G55. Best thing to do is test drive the car and see how he likes it!

I am probably the biggest fan of the Cayenne who will NEVER buy one! The drive remarkably, as my friend had a Turbo S, they beat the pants off of most cars and the road and they handle like a dream, better in fact than my X5 4.6, which was a monster in its own right. I just can't get past the price/uselessness as an SUV.

Try and convince him to get the Masi, he may very well be happier.

If he needs a fast SUV that looks mean why not Jeep SRT8?

Your uncle will probably be very happy with the Porsche, if he wants a nice SUV with power. The Audi doesn't have the same power, so that should make his choice easier. The Jeep SRT8 has great power as well, just not in the same league as Porsche. None are very reliable, but if that is not a concern, then go for the Porsche.

An excellent suggestion! Once out of warranty, that Porsche is going to be an expensive pain in the @$$ to keep on the road.
