The air is your biggest foe at those high speeds, the Bugatti simply OVERPOWERS things amazingly.

The Bugatti is such a beast if you start the Bugatti at 0 and the F1 at 100mph, the Bugatti will BEAT the Mclaren to 200mph.

Think about that for a second

You sure about that Mike? Yes, I know the Veyron is a rocket, but has a comparison like that actually been DONE by a credible auto testing source.....the Bugatti starting at 0 at the same moment the McClaren starts at 100? That would be very difficult to achieve with any precision...and would probably require an extremely long stretch like maybe the Bonneville salt flats.

It should be noted that the published acceleration figures for both cars do NOT support this claim, although it is close. According to Autocar Magazine, the 0-200mph and 0-100mph times for the McLaren F1 are 28.0 seconds and 6.3 seconds, respectively. According to Car and Driver, the 0-200MPH time for the Bugatti Veyron is 22.2 seconds. From this data, we see that the 100-200MPH time for the McLaren F1 is 21.7 seconds (28.0 seconds minus 6.3 seconds), which is less than the Veyron's 0-200MPH time. Thus, if the Veyron started when the F1 was doing 100MPH, the F1 would still beat the Veyron to 200MPH, clearly contradicting Clarkson's claim. Well, Lamborghini Diablo with the facelifted clear projector lights are taken from a Nissan 300ZX and added a carbon fiber eye garnish, so I don't see why not?

Considering 5-60 times are always worse than 0-60 times, we should know that the 0-200 minus the 0-100 doesn't give us the 100-200 time.

Whether Clarkson is right or wrong, the point has been illustrated. The Bugatti has (almost) unmatched acceleration.

reason why 5-60 is slower is because it's out of power band for almost all the cars and for awds, you also lost the advantage of launching the car off the line... for 100-200, the car should be in the power band and it should do the same times...

plus, who said the MCF1 have to hold at 100 and wait for the Veyron? It could be accelerating to 100 and once it reaches, the bugatti launches.

there are actually many tuned cars that can out accelerate the Bugatti... they just don't have the gearing/aerodynamics to go up to the higher speeds such as past 200 mph
