SHAQ Runs $23,000 Monthly Gas Station Bill ?
STEVE SCHRADER: Inside the financial statement of Shaq -- $1,500 for cable TV!
January 23, 2008
How's a guy supposed to make it on $2 million a month?
That's how much the Miami Heat's Shaquille O'Neal lists as his earnings in a financial statement filed in his Florida divorce case -- obtained by "Extra" -- but he's also got expenses, you know.
Such as, every month he pays:
• $1,500 for cable TV (for that kind of money, he better get the Big Ten Network).
• $110,000 for monthly vacations (when you spend as much time on the injured list as he does ...).
• $17,000 for clothing (the dude can't buy off the rack).
• $26,500 for babysitting (even without Kobe as a teammate?).
• $23,000 at gas stations (yeah, well, who doesn't?).
And so on. Shaq's complete filing is posted at extratv.com.

Shaq Runs $23,000 Monthly Gas Station Bill ?
Shaquille O'Neal is undoubtedly a big fellow. If he consumes a lot, it should be no huge surprise. But a $23,000 monthly gas station bill is one hell of a size 23 carbon footprint. In papers filed surrounding his pending divorce, Shaq is claiming he buys around 7000 gallons of gas a month--or just can't get enough Ho-Ho's and roller-heated hot dogs. Sure, the guy has a posse to support, but sweet mercy, buy some damn Hyundais. There's no way these claims of ginormous fuel costs, alongside stuff like a $1500-a-month cable bill, are some kind of ruse to exaggerate his expenses during the divorce proceedings. No way.

Why is this any kind of surprise at all?
He probably has multiple residences and hence multiple cable bills.
Also, it's not just gas for himself. It's gas for multiple cars driven by his bodyguards, chefs, household workers, posse, family, etc.

If he's got one of those packages for the businesses with a massive amount of tv's it's possible. You guys have to realize that he's not playing on the level of having 4 tv's in the house... he probably has about 15-20 tv's just on the inside of his house... they are all probably HD Flat screens with matching HD receivers. It's not too far out of the realm of possibility.

Even at 10mpg (for limos, Hummers, Escalades, etc., on premium fuel, Shaq has to drive over 65,000 miles every month to consume that much hydrocarbon. Buying gas for his posse? He's fueling half of Florida! Maybe he ought to start checking his credit card receipts.
