Toyota leads list of Covalence Ethical Ranking in 2007
Geneva, Switzerland - Toyota has topped a list of companies ranked by their ethical reputation released by Geneva-based Covalence, which monitors 200 companies in 10 sectors.
The companies are ranked by Best EthicalQuote Score, which rates positive minus negative news from 2002 to 2007; Best Ethical Progress, rating positive minus negative news from January to December 2007; and Best Reported Performance, rating positive news only from January to December 2007.
Toyota led all sectors in Best Ethical Progress overall, topping (in order) Marks & Spencer, IBM, HSBC, Dell, Wal-Mart, Hewlett-Packard, Intel, Honda and DuPont. It came second to Unilver in Best EthicalQuote Score, and third to Wal-Mart and Coca-Cola in Best Reported Performance, where Ford ranked tenth on the list.
In rankings of automobile and parts manufacturers only, the top ten Best EthicalQuote Score finishers, in order, were Toyota, Ford, Honda, BMW, General Motors, Daimler, Renault, Nissan, Peugeot and Denso.
In Best EthicalQuote Progress, the top ten, in order, were Toyota, Honda, Ford, General Motors, Nissan, BMW, Mazda Motor, Renault, Peugeot and Volkswagen.
In Best Reported Performance, the top ten, in order, were Toyota, Ford, General Motors, Honda, BMW, Volkswagen, Nissan, Daimler, Hyundai Motor and Mazda Motor.
