Volvo Cars Reports Sales Up 9.6 Percent for December

IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Volvo Cars of North America,
LLC. (VCNA) reports increased sales in the United States of 9.6 percent for
December, compared to same period last year. For the year U.S. sales were
down 8.4 percent, with a total of 106,354 units sold. *

Volvo sales of the all-new XC70 and V70 made a strong showing as those
recently introduced models rolled into showrooms. The all-new S80 and the
XC90 were also significant sales leaders.

"It's particularly gratifying that the media and consumers have
responded favorably to our newest models," says Anne Belec, president &
CEO, Volvo Cars of North America.

The C30, Volvo entry into the small car segment, was recently named to
Automobile magazine's list of 2008 All-Stars, cited not only for its small
car safety but its curb appeal as well as its performance. In addition,
both the C30 and the all-new XC70 were representatives on the short list
for North American Car of the Year and North American Truck of the Year,
respectively.

For 2007, sales in Canada were down 10.5 percent partially attributed
to an unfavorable exchange rate (down 28.7 for December), while
year-to-date sales in Mexico were flat, with zero percent change from last
year (down 31.9 percent for December). Overall, Volvo sales in North
America were off 8.4 percent with 117,945 units sold.

Mazda Reports December and 2007 Year-End Sales; Both Best Since 1994

- December U.S. Sales up 25.2 Percent; CY '07 U.S. Sales up 10.2 Percent -

IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Mazda North American Operations
(MNAO) today announced its best December sales total in the U.S. since
1994, with 24,933 units sold, up 25.2 percent over December 2006. CY '07
also marks Mazda's best sales year in the U.S. since 1994 with total sales
of 296,110 vehicles, accounting for a 10.2 percent increase over 2006.

Mazda's highly acclaimed three-row CX-9 crossover SUV, Motor Trend
magazine's "2007 Sport/Utility of the Year" and a North American Truck of
the Year finalist, recorded December sales of 3,066 units, and 25,566 in
just ten months. The two-row CX-7 crossover SUV recorded sales of 3,487
units for December, up 1.9 percent over last year, and 41,659 for the year,
an increase of 86.6 percent. Along with 1,378 Tribute sales, Mazda's
powerful crossover SUV lineup reported a total of 80,905 units sold in CY
'07.

Reporting its best-ever December with 9,337 units sold (up 31.6 percent
over last year), MAZDA3 also celebrated its best-ever sales year with
120,291 units sold, up 27.4 percent over CY '06. MAZDA5 also celebrated its
best-ever December in the U.S. with 1,627 units sold, up 43.9 percent
versus 2006.

"In spite of a challenging industry this year, Mazda excelled," said
Jim O'Sullivan, president and CEO of MNAO. "Talk of weak consumer
confidence, credit concerns and rising fuel prices drove consumers toward
smaller, more efficient vehicles and to crossover SUVs. Vehicles like the
MAZDA3, CX-7 and CX-9 proved to be exactly what consumers wanted.
Nevertheless, 2007 was a difficult year and we fully expect the industry
will face even tougher conditions in 2008."

Rounding out North America, Mazda Canada, Inc. (MCI) recorded its best
sales year ever with 86,659 vehicles sold, up 7.0 percent over CY '06. For
the month of December, MCI sold 4,811 vehicles, accounting for a 4.0
percent increase over last year. For the third year in a row, MAZDA3 was
the second best-selling car in Canada as it recorded 48,236 units sold in
CY '07.

Not to be outdone, Mazda Motor de Mexico (MMdM) reported record sales
of 2,062 units for December, up 67.0 percent over December 2006. MMdM also
set an annual sales record as it more than doubled sales from 2006, closing
CY '07 with sales of 16,604, up 122 percent.

Wow...4,941 X5's sold, up +89.7%!!!! Gotta say the new X5 is a real winner (in the competition for the 2nd place, that is) from BMW.

And good to see another up tick for the Lexus GS after the refresh. The Tundra is picking up real well too.

Wow.. Lexus up a dismal 1.8%? I suppose a positive number there is better than a negative but surely not what they could have hoped for.

rear-wheel drive Genesis sedan being introduced at the Detroit Auto Show on
January 13."

announced its 14th consecutive year of record sales with 305,473 units
sold, a 3.8-percent year-over-year increase. Kia saw nine months of record
sales in 2007. Leading the way for the brand in 2007 were Rio, Optima and
Sportage, which ended the year with its best month of the year.

"In a year that was not particularly good for the industry, Kia
continued to thrive with another record year and the passing of the
300,000-units-sold mark," said Len Hunt, president and CEO of Kia Motors
America. "As we begin 2008, we are optimistic that with our current line-up
and the introduction of the seven-passenger Borrego SUV, Kia will continue
its trend of year-over-year record sales."

Sportage sold 49,393 units, a 33.2-percent year-over-year increase
while Rio sold 33,370 units, a 17.5-percent increase, and Optima sold
40,901 units, a 6.5-percent year-over-year increase. Rondo, in its first
full-year on the market, sold 26,020 units.
