Volvo Cars Reports Sales Up 9.6 Percent for December
IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Volvo Cars of North America,
LLC. (VCNA) reports increased sales in the United States of 9.6 percent for
December, compared to same period last year. For the year U.S. sales were
down 8.4 percent, with a total of 106,354 units sold. *
Volvo sales of the all-new XC70 and V70 made a strong showing as those
recently introduced models rolled into showrooms. The all-new S80 and the
XC90 were also significant sales leaders.
"It's particularly gratifying that the media and consumers have
responded favorably to our newest models," says Anne Belec, president &
CEO, Volvo Cars of North America.
The C30, Volvo entry into the small car segment, was recently named to
Automobile magazine's list of 2008 All-Stars, cited not only for its small
car safety but its curb appeal as well as its performance. In addition,
both the C30 and the all-new XC70 were representatives on the short list
for North American Car of the Year and North American Truck of the Year,
respectively.
For 2007, sales in Canada were down 10.5 percent partially attributed
to an unfavorable exchange rate (down 28.7 for December), while
year-to-date sales in Mexico were flat, with zero percent change from last
year (down 31.9 percent for December). Overall, Volvo sales in North
America were off 8.4 percent with 117,945 units sold.

Mazda Reports December and 2007 Year-End Sales; Both Best Since 1994
- December U.S. Sales up 25.2 Percent; CY '07 U.S. Sales up 10.2 Percent -
IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Mazda North American Operations
(MNAO) today announced its best December sales total in the U.S. since
1994, with 24,933 units sold, up 25.2 percent over December 2006. CY '07
also marks Mazda's best sales year in the U.S. since 1994 with total sales
of 296,110 vehicles, accounting for a 10.2 percent increase over 2006.
Mazda's highly acclaimed three-row CX-9 crossover SUV, Motor Trend
magazine's "2007 Sport/Utility of the Year" and a North American Truck of
the Year finalist, recorded December sales of 3,066 units, and 25,566 in
just ten months. The two-row CX-7 crossover SUV recorded sales of 3,487
units for December, up 1.9 percent over last year, and 41,659 for the year,
an increase of 86.6 percent. Along with 1,378 Tribute sales, Mazda's
powerful crossover SUV lineup reported a total of 80,905 units sold in CY
'07.
Reporting its best-ever December with 9,337 units sold (up 31.6 percent

smaller, more efficient vehicles and to crossover SUVs. Vehicles like the

will face even tougher conditions in 2008."
