Thats b/c with 200hp you don't want a super grippy tire for fun....b/c if it grips it will be harder to slide around, though it will of course improve track times. It all depends on what the driver wants.

For example I find a stock GS 400 fun with VSC off b/c you can swing the rear out very easily and you got to control the slide/car. When you slap bigger/heavier wheels with 275 series tires in the back, well it completely changes things, the car is much more planted and harder to lose that rear.

Im sure TRD package has been posted somewhere in here. This makes the FRS much more attractive to me! Absolutely loving this car!

^Love the seats and quad exhaust. How much would the TRD package cost?

True. But, from the posted-image, they looked like seats designed for somebody built like Twiggy.

Even the stock, non-TRD seats in the BRZ (which I sampled in at the D.C. Auto Show last week), were clearly too-narrow for large adults my size.

Maybe there are different size available. The picture shown is size S.
I would fit in it perfectly.

I haven't been excited for a Toyota product since the IS300 came out.

Front engine, rear drive and manual transmission. Make it light weight and you have my favorite recipe for a car.

The only thing I wish the Scion has that is standard on the Subaru are the HID headlights.

I prefer the IS300 steering wheel to the FR-S/BRZ.

I like that Spartan-ness of the FR-S. Yes, I'm in the minority here.

My next car will either be a Z or a FR-S.

Nothing new here. 15% powertrain loss from crank (or flywheel) to wheel has been an accepted norm for many years.

I've always seen photos of the rear of the TRD package but not the front. This package is very well done! The quad exhaust may *seem* poseur-ish (considering it doesn't have 8 cylinders under the hood) but it's very aggressive!

After a fair amount of investigating and Googling, I think I've figured out that the GT 86 / FR-S / BRZ use the Aisin AZ6 manual transmission, the A960E automatic from the current RWD IS 250 and the limited-slip diff from either the 1st-gen IS 300 or its slightly less beefy IS 200 counterpart.

My reasoning is spelled out in this article:
http://kaizenfactor.wordpress.com/20...e-know-so-far/

And a huge thanks to Club Lexus member Motohide, whose driving impressions as reported on this thread form an integral part of my article.
