Ford Gives Workers a Peek at 2010 Models
Date posted: 11-16-2006
DEARBORN, Mich. — In an unusual move designed to convince its workers that its product plans are sound, Ford Motor Co. has invited employees and retirees to see some of the vehicles it plans to roll out by 2010.
Upcoming models will be presented through images, animations, short videos and actual vehicles on November 27 and 28 in Detroit.
"Through our North America 'Way Forward' plan, we've spoken a lot about reducing our uncompetitive cost structure, but we have not yet fully explained our accelerated product plans," said Mark Fields, Ford's president of the Americas, in the invitation. "It's time to change that — and to show our full team of employees and retirees how this transformation truly is product led."
Attendees must sign a confidentiality agreement and will not be allowed to take pictures.
The automaker expects 25,000 people to attend the event.
What this means to you: We're betting that plenty of images make it onto the Web from this event as Ford uses its workforce to create word-of-mouth buzz.
