My New Ride
I was forced into buying it to be honest.
1988 Pontiac 6000 Safari Wagon...$200.00 but it runs like new. The woman who owned it was 82 but she died and now its mine. The interior is spotless but the body is rusting. I guess I'll keep it as a winter beater and donate it next year.
The one thing I do like about the car is I seem to like wagons and the extra use I get out of them. It drives perfect and has all the service records. 149k miles but she runs strong. It nice owning a car you can park anywhere and not worry about damage or theft.

I'm no snob, but you'd have to pay me $200 to drive that car - for a month!
Here's what you do to redeem yourself - charge people $10 a pop, and let them take a couple of whacks with a sledgehammer to that car for 30 seconds.
It's great stress relief too, not to mention a fitting death for that POS.

Well.....I'm not going to make fun of you like some people here.
You don't expect a brand-new car for $200. And considering it is a 80's-vintage GM product, which were known for poor build quality / fit-and-finish to start with, ( some of the worst I ever saw outside of 69-70 Chrysler products ) and has been through 18 Michigan winters ( which would be enough to rust through battleship armor ) the body doesn't look too bad, from the picture you posted....the "wood" side paneling, which of course is nothing but stick-on tape, having held up quite well....that is usually the first thing to go.
Hey, even if the engine or tranny goes in just a few months ( some of the 80's FWD GM transmissions were pure junk ) you still will have gotten your money's worth, for just $200.

If it runs, use it for hauling stuff and driving in crappy weather - why not? Actually, in IL in winter you could have a blast doing donuts in a parking lot with it.
Now of course it's hideous so you might want to spend another $200 to take off the woody crap.

As old as that stuff is, just take a razor blade or sharp knife, stick it under the edge of the stuff on each panel, pull up just enough to get your fingers under it, and give it one or two good yanks. You may have to remove the raised-wood trim pieces to get at part of it.
