so what?......these things constantly go up and down. The article says that the major contributing factor is Model shifts and a rise in taxes.
BMW's tax bill increased to 268 million euros from 203 million euros a year earlier. Net income in the quarter was adjusted for new accounting treatment of pension provisions.

the change in the treatment of the pension provisions could have been significant. I dunno how their sales figures are doing but I thought bangle's designs were allowing Audi to steal some market share.

North American sales fell 8.8 percent to 78,719 vehicles, while sales in Europe fell 6.1 percent to 189,437 units.
