Default SLR McLaren Is Up for Grabs for 100 Bucks

With tickets on sale for just $100, this charity raffle could be the best chance you'll ever get to own this one-of-a-kind exotic.

Date posted: 11-06-2006

SALISBURY, Md. — It literally is the chance of a lifetime for lovers of the 2006 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. You can buy a chance to own the $465,000 supercar for just $100 by entering a drawing being held to benefit Toys for Tots.

Ponhanka of Salisbury is selling 5,000 tickets at $100 each for the drawing on December 10. The SLR McLaren is powered by a 5.5-liter supercharged V8 and goes from zero to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds. There are only about 1,500 SLR McLarens in the U.S.

Toys for Tots is the Marine Corps Reserve organization that donates new toys to underprivileged families for the holidays.

For more information, check out the Raffle Web site.

What this means to you: Needy kids will definitely get toys — and you'll get the chance to win a toy of your own. Everybody wins.

PS, if anybody from Club Lexus wins it, they owe me a ride.

I'm not sure, but for those raffles involving homes...you have to pay the taxes up front before you receive anything.

Not sure if it is the same for cars. (I expect it to be).

Although...I do notice there is a cash option of $300k in this case.

So it's like a charity you can write off on your taxes with the added bonus of having a small but at least much more reasonable chance than your average lottery, to win the grand prize!

Depending on your income Insurance will literally beat cha tail, and registration, maintenance etc will finish you off. Thats if you decide to try and keep it, oh and in your track home garage with a whole community of men camped out side of it hoping to get a look at it.

One of those was behind me yesterday followed by two Lambo's.

Someone's daddy around here is rich and bought the wife a green murc, the sister an orange murc, and the brother an SLR.

They roll together around the hot spots in town looking for attention (and they get it). They go around behaving like "it" girls and guy.

And they'd better pay for a few years worth of registration and insurance or the average winner of this car may still end up selling the car real quickly.

I just check my rate for insurance on SLR.. whooping $ 326.00 a month!! compare to I am paying my GS for 69.00 with 20K aftermarket parts!!!
I guess I will take the cash option and get a lot more cars and stuff I want.

Never have such luck in my life time though....

actually i was daydreaming too and figured it's probably better off take the car and sell it right the way. probably can end up having more money in my pocket than taking 300k. 300k after tax, no fun

Ha, I just remember that lottery winning like this is taxable in the US, but it's not taxable up here (yet).
