Toyota To Unveil Flex-Fuel Tundra In North America In 2008

When Toyota introduced their new redesigned 2007 Tundra pickup there were concerns expressed that it and the related Sequoia SUV might actually be too big for the market as fuel prices have increased. The new truck is quite a bit larger after complaints that the previous generation was too small relative to the domestic pickups. Now comes word that Toyota will introduce a flex-fuel version of the Tundra as early as 2008.

The flex-fuel technology is expected to be based on that used in the upcoming flex-fuel Corolla for the Brazilian market. This will be the first E85 capable Toyota in the US market, and will be built either in the Princeton, Indiana plant that has been producing Tundras for several or at the new San Antonio, Texas plant that is opening this month. Toyota is apparently also considering a hybrid version of the Tundra.
