BMW Individual has been around for awhile in Europe, and for a few years in Canada. It will be available in the US soon.

BMW Individual had been around in the US in the mid 90s at least. I saw a E34 540i with light purplish blue exterior and lavendar interior sitting on the dealer's lot for months. Turned out the car was ordered by a customer with BMW Individual (the door handle reads "BMW Individual" also) options and ended up not taking delivery. He even put down $5000 deposit on it.

Ew, leather drop top? They better sun-proof the crap out of that thing or it's going to crack.

But the front fascia on that 6 looks nice.
EDIT: Oh it's because it's a M6. Whoops. DOH!

You can order BMW individual options right now in the US, but there is a charge on top of the actual cost of the option. I think they are introducing it in a way like it exists in Europe, where it's just a giant option list, priced out like regular options. I dunno. BMW options are funny sometimes...

are you sure about this?

US only has limited choice on individual options not the full range that is offered in europe.

As far as i know, this is currently limited to exterior paint and some minor interior trims. You also need to find a dealership that is willing to go the extra miles to special order the car for you. BMWNA does not encourage this practice in US right now.

Why is there a camera facing the compartment (in this case the 4 time pieces...)?

individual is cool, it's definitely a great way to introduce exclusivity. for people who can fork out the money, it's definitely a great thing

though yeah, leather soft top? not sure about that one

You can pretty much get whatever you want if you're willing to pay for it; but yes you are right that it requires *a lot* of effort on your behalf and a willing dealer. For the most part if you want BMW individual items in the US right now the dealer will let you choose silly little things like anthracite headliners and gloss trim. I guess this "news" is that the entire catalog will be offered without it being a pain in the butt.
