BMW launches BMW Individual

BMW Individual had been around in the US in the mid 90s at least. I saw a E34 540i with light purplish blue exterior and lavendar interior sitting on the dealer's lot for months. Turned out the car was ordered by a customer with BMW Individual (the door handle reads "BMW Individual" also) options and ended up not taking delivery. He even put down $5000 deposit on it.

You can order BMW individual options right now in the US, but there is a charge on top of the actual cost of the option. I think they are introducing it in a way like it exists in Europe, where it's just a giant option list, priced out like regular options. I dunno. BMW options are funny sometimes...
US only has limited choice on individual options not the full range that is offered in europe.
As far as i know, this is currently limited to exterior paint and some minor interior trims. You also need to find a dealership that is willing to go the extra miles to special order the car for you. BMWNA does not encourage this practice in US right now.
