2008 Lexus LX470 spy pics
The brawny Lexus LX470 was introduced in 1998, and since then has had a couple of minor updates. Now these latest photos capture a future LX470 that is restyled and updated inside and out.
Caught during secret testing in southern Europe, the crew of engineers from Japan and Belgium had along with the prototype the current Toyota Landcruiser as well as a Mercedes ML for comparison.
At the front, the new Lexus revises the grille to have only 3 central horizontal bars instead of 4, and also integrates the headlights into a single unit instead of the two light clusters on each side used before. The front bumper is all new, but carries over the general shape with twin horizontal slots and a tapered solid area in the middle. Rear styling is almost unchanged, but has restyled taillights.
The interior is completely new, and features a very large screen for the navigation system surrounded by push buttons located both at the sides of the screen and below it. Styling of the passenger compartment looks even more luxurious than before, including wood trim even around the push buttons on the steering wheel.
The new Lexus LX470 should be ready for release some time in 2007.

Wow, great find these spyshots are ... that interior looks wonderful, with the wood on the steering wheel, and that centre screen is huge, reminds me of the new LS. I hope this is the model we get, because rumours have said that the LX may not be around in the US any longer.
The styling looks more muscular and sporty at the same time, and now I wonder what engine will it have ... the Tundra's 5.7L V8 perhaps, or something else?

Sources tell us it will be the first vehicle to employ the next generation 'larger format' video screens...

Damn thing looks like a 9-10" TV screen.

Land Cruiser and LX have always been production twins basically, and I don't think Toyota would change that. If both remain for next-gen in the States, then this is very likely the Lexus version of the two. The interior is tell-tale Lexus, as I highly doubt they would use such buttons and such a huge screen on the regular 'Cruiser in the US.

^^ I still believe the other spy pics were of the LC. The Sequoia is waay bigger than the LC. I couldnt see that being a Sequoia at all. To me it had all the design characteristics of the previous LC's.

i thought lexus and toyota were going to change the design, so they don't look like each other...but the new landcruiser and LX both look the same with the same hump
it looks more like an evolution that a revolution
i hope it doesn't look like the land crusiser tooo much...i don't care for the hump...it looks like it does have it
but everything else seems good

Good point, but I fail to see how L-finesse can translate into a truck. A truck does not need the sleekness and smoothness of the L-finesse theme. It needs to maximize utility and ruggedness, which contradicts the L-finesse philosophy (as if I knew what it really is).

The ML is able to remain sleek and sexy, and have a lot of utility (for a midsize SUV) still.

Well I was talking about a real truck. The sleek new ML has become a unibody crossover so it can look sleek more easily. The LX as a true off-roader, on the other hand, will have to do with body-on-frame and is therefore much harder to become sleek.
