C&D-5. Navigator 4. Escalade 3. QX56 2. Audi Q7 1. Benz GL
I have to say I was disapointed in the Caddy's placing. I was expecting America to place well in something like this.
Basically it was a 2 way race. the 2 Germans point totals were far ahead the other 3.They just loved the Benz GL, it was 70k loaded. The QX6 was cheapest at 53k (even cheaper in person, they are discounting like mad).

The QX56 placed *ahead* of the Escalade? No surprise that this is coming from C & D.
I know for a fact the price difference is minimal, and the Escalade's higher price more than makes up for all the deficiencies of the QX56. Not only does Escalade have better interior and better overall quality/reliability, it has a more powerful engine, with better fuel economy.

BTW
I predict doom for the Navigator. The tail end (and front end) has taken on the ugly new Lincoln look and the interior is just terrible. Retro is not a 70s station wagon instrument cluster.

That many dimensions in the Caddy are carried over, the 2nd row seats are bolted in place, therefore no relief for the legroom shortage - doors are narrow, seats both front and second rows are narrow - passenger comfort in the second and third rows earned the lowest marks.
re: The Infiniti
Most passenger-friendly of the truck based utes.
Only one to have low range in its 4 wheel drive and it tops all others in towing capacity
Best people mover of the trucks - a genuine eight seater - entry and exit are remarkably easy. The second row tumbles forward out of your path to the back. Plenty of foot room for all rows and supportive cushions. 17 more cubic feet that the Escalade (so it was biggest in the test)
The QX56 had only 18 wheels on it and while they are "unfashionable", they were smooth and quiet over the road, "something we can't say about the Cadillac's and Lincoln's" - and the 18" wheels steer quickly and accurately.
per C&D "The QX56, alone among the trucks, rides and sounds up to luxury-vehicle expectations"
And finally
"Compared with the extroverted Escalade, the QX56 is very much a mind-its-own-business sort of obedient servant. Instead of heavy breathing and hey-lookit-me decoration, the Infiniti delivers impeccable manners behind a forgettable face. And one other bonus: a saving of nearly $11,000 in as-tested price over the Cady. That, folks is called a choice"

Wow...they even threw in the VW for this comparo. Would have liked to see the Audi Q7 though.
I think I would rank it this way as well.
LOL...I finally saw the new Navigator on the streets a few weeks ago. All I remember was seeing a huge chrome grill. It overshadows the rest of the truck its not even funny.
But someone must have thought that it was a great looking SUV. It was parked up front among the Aston Martins and Bentleys at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel.
I think I would rank it this way as well.

#5 Lincoln Navigator (164 points)
#4 Cadillac Escalade (181 points)
#3 Infiniti QX56 (186 points)
#2 Audi Q7 4.2 (203 points)
#1 Mercedes-Benz GL450 (225 points)
Basically the truck based SUVs did not have a chance. The one thing I wish C&D would not do is throw in the "Gotta-have-it factor". I'm not sure where this comes from and who decides who wants to have it

Nice, thats good to know. I really do like that Q7.
I want to see what all the hoopla is about with the GL-class. Been hearing a lot about it lately.
Yea the gotta have it factor is kinda weak. I guess its there to show what they favor(their opinion).
Thread title fixed.
