It's times like these that we really get excited about our readership. Whether it's a longtime gearhead in Seattle, an industry mogul in Detroit or a twelve-year-old whose four-wheeled obsession has just begun, we know that you're out there and that you'll never, ever, let us down.

This fact was made overtly apparent to us last night when Zaid Abdullatif, a reader in the Sultanate of Oman, sent us these pictures of what could very well be the next Toyota Land Cruiser. Basking in the sun outside of the Shangri-La Hotel and Spa in Oman, the newly redesigned SUV appears to benefit from a thorough work-over, both inside and out.

The exterior has kept the patented rugged-luxury theme with clean lines, a large greenhouse and a revised grill and headlamp arrangement that manages to look both intimidating and tasteful at the same time. The interior, which is easily dismissed as the typical appliance-meets-mobility Toyota philosophy, has the potential to dawn some upper-echelon cache when equipped with high-grade leather, soft wooden trim and techno-gadgetry. Also of note is the all-important third row seating, which is a necessity when competing at this price point.

Judging by some of the gashes and scratches in the mule's body, it looks as though the new Cruiser is in the midst of hot weather testing and is being flogged in a way that only you and the rest of the Autoblog team could appreciate.

The Sequoia is a North American market car built solely in the US. The Sequoia although related to the Land Cruiser by it's powertrain, it is mainly built off of the Toyota Tundra platform.

I know that, but what's to prevent them from testing the Sequoia in another country?

Although, chances are it is a Land Cruiser. It has that Land Cruiser "profile".

Doesn't look like it fits the land cruiser's image. The interior looks like it's downgraded from the current version, and there suv itself looks uglier than poo. And is that cloth seats?? I'm leaning towards it being a sequoia replacement than the land cruiser. Even the door handle inside the car doesn't even look like it belongs in a landcruiser

Yep, looks like a Land Cruiser. The front end seems to be a retrofitted version of the 80 Series LC. The rest of the car, however, looks like a supersized Rav4 IMO. I think the rear end looks like some cheap SUV, not a pricey LC.

wow. What a wierd rear end.

Im sure this is a LC. If Im not mistaken there are lower trim levels available in other coutries that we do not get here. Cloth seats etc seems like the norm in other countries.

Nice find!

They covered everything and forgot to cover the emblem on the steering wheel

The interior does look downgraded on the material/looks than current LC.
Not enough wood.........we know how we are with wood

I would agree it looks more like the next sequoia.

I agree that's likely the case, much like it's possible to get an E-class, or even a S-class with cloth seats in some European countries.

Well, if they wanted to kill LC sales in the U.S., that's how to do it. YEESH!
