Probably build quality and refinement. The SC430 blows the Viper ( and just about every Dodge product) away on both counts, despite the Viper's acknowledged superiority in speed and handling. A fast piece of junk is not necessarily any better than a slow piece of junk.

That being said, the #14 should've been #1, and #2 should have been S2000.

No, that's NOT what he implied. He was generalizing.
It's impressive to see the SC430 there not only because it's not a sports car (but rather a luxury coupe), but also because of it's age. The SC is the OLDEST car on that list and will soon be replaced with a substantially improved model. Probably a lot sportier too.

I guess that's what the LFA will do in 2008/9.

6-series proportions spanked with some L-Finesse . Yet we'll see the SC's superior luxury interior taken to the next level. It will be the best car ever built by Toyota along with the new LS.
Expect great things.

Most of those cars are very expensive ones. Where are the more affordable ones like Mazda MX-5 and Honda S2000? SC430 is nice, but it is not a pure sports car. 650i, XK, SC, and SL are more like luxury coupes/convertibles than sports cars in my opinion. Consumer Report should call these "Best luxury sporty cars".

Another reason why I don't give a rat A$$ about consumer report ranking..
One time they did not recommend the 911 because it only had 2 seats... WTF...
