Nada 'Til 2007: Nissan Offers Delayed Payment To Spur Sales
The 2007 Nissan Versa (pictured) is included in Nissan's new program that lets customers buy a car now and not start paying until January 2, 2007.

DETROIT — Nissan resurrected an aggressive incentive program on Friday that allows customers to buy a vehicle now and not make a payment until 2007.
"We do it every year around this time, and we've extended it to 130 days deferral as part of a Labor Day special," said Angela Coletti, Nissan spokeswoman. "This has been in existence since 1999. It's not a response to any trends, but more of a renewal of a program."
The program is not available in Michigan, Maine and Pennsylvania, however. The offer is good on all 2006 and 2007 Nissan models, including the Versa. It allows customers to make their first payment 130 days after purchase, so the earliest a payment would be due is January 2, 2007. The offer ends October 2.
Demand for Nissan cars and trucks is off 8 percent in the U.S. this year. The automaker hasn't posted a monthly sales gain since February.
What this means to you: Nissan's product drought has been keeping customers out of its showrooms. Maybe this incentive will lure them back in.
