Acura RDX Launch party.
Local acura dealer held a really nice party to debut the New acura RDX. They had a live jazz band as well as food catered by brio tuscan grill. A very nice party nicer than the Lexus launch parties but they didnt have any door prizes or have a product specialist to demo the vehicle. I did get to drive the car and it is really nice no turbo lag and it has a really sporty feel out on the road.
The interior is a little funny looking but very comfortable and with plenty of features. I especially love the really deep center console storage area complete with a light and a lock.
If your interested in attending one in your area go to acura.com/RDXturbobash and RSVP. Driving the car is well worth it.

We test drove one the other day, and it was actually very sporty and fun. Back seat was remarkably comfortable, too. I actually liked the exterior much better in person than in the pictures I had seen The interior is the best part, though. Very hot looking and has the option of the awesome ELS sound system from the TL.
Overall, not half bad from Acura. It will probably sell well.

The dealer in my neighborhood in Mexico City invited me to a similar type party, but my relatives are in town. Did see an RDX being driven in my neighborhood on the way home from work yesterday...very nice vehicle...would love to run ones of these things down at my track.

I just got back from it, had some decent food, RDX interior is very good, probably built as good or better than the RL interior which is very solid also. Test drove it streets were damp but I didnt bag on it since its an SUV. It drives very smooth for an SUV, ive been in SUV and most of the time the ride is crap. Drives very balanced like an SUV, stock suspension is firm but smooth, handles very well almost like a car has 235/55/18 tires stock. If anyone has driven a TSX its not as sporty as a TSX handles but its somewhat close. Stock audio isnt that good, so might have to consider the Tech package. Low end torque is excellent, RDX takes off in first gear, moves nice for a near 4000 lb vehicle. Its quiet inside there was little road noise. I used the paddle shifting most of the time, the paddles feel kinda flimsy and cheap, sort of felt like an the typical steering wheel button controls for the audio. Overall I was very impressed. If I was into crossovers/small SUVs this would be the one to get.
In person the RDX looks very modern, futuristic, I think it looked bigger in person. Front is nice, rear is nice, great wheels for stock
But Im getting an IS350 later hah

I just went to an RDX launch party. It was nice, but nowhere near the delicious upscale atmosphere at Lexus of Glendale's GS party last year.
The funniest thing was when one of the sales managers was speaking, and he decided to attack 3 luxury marques. He said BMW stood for 'break my wallet,' Mercedes 'only knows how to add 0's to the price tag,' and Lexus vehicles 'require you to pull over to use the NAVI.' The last bit I'm well aware of, but it's a) a safety feature and b) you can override it if you know the code.
It was funny, and I liked the RDX. Of course I have to compare it to the RX, which started this segment. And now there are some 40 competitors in it...lots to choose from. I think Acura will build on the success of the MDX with the RDX, it fits their image and product portfolio well.

Anyway I havent driven it myself yet(will do that when I have time), but my Acura buddies have gotten a few truck loads in already and so far for them its been a complete bust. They told me tons of people walk in wanting to buy it, but leave saying "call me when I can get it at invoice". I dont think thats suppose to happen for a brand new model. Havent sold one since they got their first one in at the beginning of the month. I dunno, maybe its still to early.

edit: actually come to think of it, only the TL is the value priced leader. The TSX while a great car, is a lot of money at $30K and the RL while not overpriced in my opinion, is not a screaming deal like the TL. Hmmm, nevermind...
