top 100 engine list ?
I have been searching the internet to find a top 100 engine list with no luck, I would like to see where the 4.0 lexus would be on the list. Thanks if anyone knows where to find it.

WARD's 10 best engines does this every year. You might check older listings to find the 4 liter. Do a google.com for Ward's 10 best engine and then put what year you want.
"Since its inception in 1995, Ward's 10 Best Engines has evolved into an influential gauge of powertrain engineering and development prowess."
Matter of fact I found this...

The 4 liter is on there

So much for a 100 best engine list but a 10 best helps, I was actually on wikipedia and wards auto. world site, but couldnt find a range of years, thanks for the help, I see the 1uz motor on there and also more credit for the 98 up, makes me feel good about investing time and money in my 95 sc400. I am getting a magnaflow 2into1 converter and 2 stainless XL series magnaflow mufflers installed on 8-8-06 will report on sound quality and perf. increase. Ron

In all seriousness, for building up, cost savings, the LS1 Vette engine tops the list, end of story...
For serious cost savings, reliablitiy, durability the 1uz-fe's have got to be right at the top of that list....
The straight six banger toyota motors are basically indestructable too....

I respect the rotaries as its such a departure from conventional design, and to make so much power with so little displacement from the factory, regardless of how fidgity it is. Another favorite is the 5L V12 from the 8 series BMW. I love that engine

Intermediate
LT5 DOHC 32V V-8 -- 24 hours at an average speed of 175.8mph.

Also grab a copy of "The Heart of the Beast". The tests done to that motor to ensure durability were insane.

Best bang for the buck as far as I can tell with almost limitless potential....God forbid you turbo an LS1 or supercharge one..
Still love my smoothe idling 1UZ-FE motor, don't get me wrong...
