It is kind of sad and comical. Ever since teh FIA tried to limit mechanical grip, the aero packages has got way out of hand. You would see less of these crazy designs if the teams were allowed to improve mechanical grip the traditional way. Now F1 cars are so much relied on aerodynamic grip. Oh well, if it works it works

better aero... and it seems to be working too... their test driver was the first during first testings (where usually only test drivers test as fast as possible).

i'd really like to see how (visually) this helps to clean up the air...i see that they are running the McLaren "viking" horns on the side of the cowl

This radical-looking aero solution was used in the last test at Jerez and then adopted for France. The two vertical fins on the nose, around 40 cm high, give the car an unconventional look, but fall within regulations regarding bodywork height. Their purpose is to improve stability and efficiently direct airflow towards the central and rear sections of the car. The concept is similar to that of the 'ears' on the Renault nose, but BMW Sauber have taken it to the extreme to increase its effect.

it's there to clean up the air to the back of the car so the rear wing is more efficient, especially since the FIA cracked down on BMW's flexible rear wing.

should be... we should be loaded with fuel nicely, so I expect renaults at least to pit before us, if not Ferrari's. Problem might be our poor starts which didnt do us any favours so far this season. Hopefully that problem is corrected now...

yes because F1 cars should sacrifice aerodynamic performance for visual aesthetics
