Car design trends part II. Foglights connected to the bumper
Well, I started the Split spoke thread, where is seems every car maker is using split spoke 5 spoke rims.
Now, not sure who was FIRST, but its clear another thread are these fog lamps connected to the bumper.
Which I personally think is awful and destroys any fluidity but hey, they are the experts right

I like them. It makes it very organized and clean looking, unlike fog lamps that are "just attached" to the front bumper or grill. For example, the new Mustangs have their foglights on the grill. It's aggressive, but it seems like a cut-and-paste job. Give me a fog light that is intergrated such as those examples above.
Also, have people noticed that some cars are now integrating the reverse light to the bumper instead of the typical taillight compartment area? The refurbished Solara has them...

I don't have a problem with it either. I think it looks great.
First time I remember seeing this design was on the 1999 BMW 328Ci OEM bodykit(sorry for the small pic). Looked great then, looks great now.

Great catch, Mike. I had noticed this on a couple of cars but didn't notice the TIDE of them until you posted all those pics.
In my eyes, there's a big difference between LexAnt's SC (and that other SC Mike posted) where the fog lights are smoothly integrated. Those other cars (including the Porsche) look like aftermarket force-ins with the extremely obvious "I've got FOG LIGHTS" dedicated housing.
Fog lights are like cell phones: 20 years ago they were something to brag about and display prominently if you wanted to brag. Now, since everybody's got 'em, the in-your-face display is silly.

Ya, definitely looks better on some cars that others. For example, the new 3-series integrated fog lights look pretty rad; same with the Ms - actually any fogs from BMW look good. I think the ones on WRX's look good too, even though they're big they suit the car.
Then you have the GM fogs which tend to be really large and bulbous.
