lol...the Lexus SC430 is on the list because he claims it to be the WORST Convertible to buy. Only one Lex and one Toyota made the good list.

Shopping for an elegant, upmarket convertible? You could have a Jaguar, a Mercedes or . . . this. Of course, Lexus sells loads of these things in America. But they wouldn’t know a good car if it jumped out of a hedge and ate their feet. Here, its numb handling and jittery ride make it a poor choice for British roads, even if you could live with the looks. And trust me on this: you can’t.

Lexus SC 430: The range was launched in 2001 and has had one update since then. However, there is still only one version, the 4.3 litre V8, and one equipment grade with everything from sat nav to leather upholstery as standard.

They forgot to switch out the runflats like almost all of us here did

They always favour cars that perform well on the track rather than highway cruisers, which is fine by me.

That's very interesting list of cars he's come up with.

What is even more interesting is the number of Mazdas listed. Almost every single
car they make managed to score high marks with Clarkson.

Mazda5 - winner for MPV (minivan)
Mazda6 - 4th for family car
RX8 - 3rd place for Coupes
Miata/MX5 - winner for Sportscar beating out Lotus and MB

Nice job Mazda. I would consider getting any one of these cars easily. The RX8 may be
my next car by the end of this year if gas prices don't get too crazy.

European cars are way over-represented, Japanese and American, way under-represented. No surprise coming from this guy.

Is this guy on crack? I'm not complaining about Lexus but the C class, A4, 9-3, and X-type listed above a 3 series? That is nuts.

It has to be realized that Jeremy drives supercars all the time, so his expectation of sports coupe is different than many people. Going from a CLK to a JXR, to an SC430, you'll feel the difference in driving dynamics.

the reviews are written for the FAMILY in mind..

and from what i know, Merc's diesel engines are amazingly reliable (note that all of the higher-scoring ones are diesel models). he has kept truth to the "FAMILY" part of the story, and a sensible family man needing a "luxury" marque to drive would look for high gas mileage, which these diesels achieve, and drivetrain reliability..which these diesels provide.

so no, clarkson is NOT on crack... though about that Alfa....

dude, how hard is to read one sentence?

Winner: Mercedes C 320 CDI
If it doesn't fall apart, there's nothing on the road to touch it
so much for reliable. Where in the world people get the notion that modern turbo diesel common rail engines are more reliable than petrol engines? From old 80's MB iron block non-turbo diesels with 50hp? :-).
