I welcome a hardtop. I had 90 325i convertible that got cut open by vandals a few times and I had to shell out several hundred each time.

The BMW 335ci three panel scheme will likely be similar to what Volvo has done with the C70. Take a peek at volvocars.com for a video. Seems pretty cool.
Same. I don't like the 650i with the roof up... I have to say the 350Z looks the worst with its roof up though.

I think the most advanced top yet is the one that's going on VW's Eos... it's got a working sunroof and it also serves as a hardotp. Very cool. There's a video of its operation somewhere on the internet, I'll try and find it later.

The only convertibles I'd ever consider would be hardtops.

Looks good. But I shudder to think what the price of a 335i hardtop convertible would be.

Probably near $50,000 base price. Guess you gotta pay to play.

At $55-60K, this would fit a nice little niche. The 650i is $80K so they have a nice gap between them.
very interesting idea on the roof, looks pretty complicated to me though. but yeah, personally i can't figure out why they decided to have a soft top for a car of that price, doesn't make sense...

and umm.... why would you compare the 335i and the sc430? they are not in the same league, don't think it's a fair comparison. performance wise the 335 will most likely shine over the sc430 but i can name a lot of stuff where the 335 is a mile behind?

Don't like it (or the 6 series w/top up)....makes you appreciate the SC430 and SL more and how good they look with the retractable hardtops.

I am curious will the next M3 convert then be a hardtop, or will there be a new one?

yeah the 6 should have a hardtop but so should the new XK and Aston Martins. Hell Bentleys don't have them either

I think the Jags and Astons top down look perfect and not bad top up either.

Convertibles have come a LONG LONG way
