$3+ a gallon gas....anyone thinking of dumping their 250?
With premium gas at $3 in Houston I'm beginning to think I made the wrong choice in getting the IS250. I'm contacting several Toyota dealers about a Prius....anyone else thinking the same?
[I'm assuming anyone with a 350 doesn't care too much about the price of gas or MPG so this thread shouldn't concern them]

yes, tell those of us with is350 or any of the lexus v8....
seriously, gas price is getting higher, but when you buy a car you should kinda factor this in and know you can afford it? it's almost like buying a ferrari and then start worrying about the cost of an oil change
just go enjoy your car, you pay more money but a lot more fun

Well, I'm used to paying alot for gas now. Considering we haven't went down past $2.40 in a while. I say enjoy what car you drive. The price difference isn't TOO much when you think about it. Anywhere from $1-7 more per tank. IMO, when you get a Hybrid, it takes a while to actually make back what you paid for it. Since Hybrids do cost more. But there is alot of perks to Hybrids, tax cuts, free metered parking, etc.

People that buy a hybrid are generally more concerned about the environment, than trying to save money. Studies show that you will likely NEVER make back the extra $$$ spent on a hybrid. You would have to keep the car for 10+ years to see breakeven.

IS350 doesn't get that bad of mileage, especially for its performance. The IS250 doesn't get anywhere NEAR "bad mileage". The best will be those AMG models that get 15/22 on good driving

I totally agree... its not THAT much more at the end of the day. Also, keep in mind that other countries pay well over $5 a gallon, so we cant really complain... yet.

You get free metered parking if you drive a hybrid?
So can I buy the Hybrid badge and stick it on the back of my 350 and get free metered parking?

we're crying about $3/gallon while the rest of the world pays $3/liter
I work part-time in College Station (200 mile roundtrip commute) and take the VFR (if you're light on the throttle hand it gets ~50mpg) when the weather permits.

Selling the car in the interest of saving gas money will not work out for you numberwise. IS makes great mileage for the performance it has which is usually a big trade off with mileage. I dont see much 300 hp cars making 24 mpg. Turbocharged vehicles take massive hits on mileage

To answer your question, no, I'm not considering selling. I got the 250 instead of the 350 because of the better MPG and I don't need 300 hp. If you're really serious, considering cutting your expenses to match the gas price change. I'd rather eat out less and keep the 250, for example.
