Default Ever got a ticket for backing into a parking space?

I got one yesterday. It was at a space outside a parking garage off my school campus. Luckily it's a warning, but still ticked off by it

I think there was a thread earlier about how it is illegal to do so in California in parking garages...I didn't know such was the case in FL as well......here is that thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...+ticket+backed
In fact, you even posted in that thread

I ALWAYS back into parking spaces...I find it so much easier than pulling in head first.

I'm not an expert in this area, but I think it has to do with states that have rear-only plates. If you back in and don't have a plate up front, it can be very difficult for a police officer or meter attendant to identify your car, particularly if you back up so close to a wall that they cannot get in close enough to read the rear plate.
Again I stress, though....this is only my opinion, not necessarily a fact.

What a dumb rule.
When getting out of the space it is safer if you get out with the nose in the right direction.

I've actually seen signs in some parking garages asking you not to back in because the exhaust gasses causes some harm to the concrete walls and makes them break down.

Guess they should build them out of some other material, huh

since u did it at your school i understand the warning...same rules at my school, its to check decals since most schools require them on rear window--but this year my school has a decal that hangs from your rearview mirror, so i dont see y we cant park *** in first now!

Rollins College in Winter Park, FL.

It's funny when I was talking to my classmate about this incident, she informed me that the warning probably came from this female parking officer who actually carries around a measuring tape and uses it to check if a parked car is parked too close to a curb. She calls her the "Parking ****" lol

I think this is wrong because it is illegal in Cali and we are required to have both front and rear plates. I know in Cali you are not supposed to back into spaces as well but I know of many who do it, myself on occassion, who never have had problems (knock on wood). However, I have a friend who went to a police station, unaware of this law, parked there for pay another ticket, officer walks in,
Officer: "Who own's the black M3 parked in front of this building?"
My friend: "I think it's mine, why?"
Officer: "Because I am giving it a ticket for parking illegally if the owner doesn't move it."
Friend: "You have to be ******* me? Parked illegally...?"

After that she explained the law but I didn't pay attention, neither did my friend I don't think...hahaha

I think im going with baddis es on this one, to check the parking decal deal.. Over here in GA, when you take the driving test, one of the tasks is to park while backing up into a space

was it one of those directional parking spots...

angled to make that certain row of the parking lot "one way"

or just straight perpendicular lots where it's two way.

cuz there are idiots on my campus parking lot who park butt-in in a one-way lot...which means they came in the wrong way and pissed off another driver---and will probably do the same leaving.

One of the other reasons why they enforce that law is for your safety. If someone is driving by and all of the sudden you start to drive out of your spot (mind you, sometimes you are not able to see either side because some ford excursion is blocking you), the car will hit you on either the passenger or driver side. You do not want to be t-boned right where you sit. Some laws are retarded, but this one makes sense and it's only for your safety, regardless of how well you think you can drive. This still can happen to the back side of your car if you have rear passengers, but 100% of the time, there will always be a driver, where as you might not have back passengers all the time.
