Which one ? This one is tuned for fuel economy more than for performance I guess . . .

I expect it to be comparable to the Avalon all along

do you have scans of the article claiming these times?

this recent R&T article (April '06) was claiming just under 9 secs for the hybrid:

7.3 sec. is "under 9 sec." right ?

I think that article is more like a preview rather than a review posting actual test results.

That sounds great. Still not the rocket I want, but what else would you expect from a Camry?

That sounds about right.
How much does the Carmy weigh vs the ES? If its similar, the ES wil post similar times.

Ten years ago, no one would have said a stock Camry would be this fast.
Ten years ago, no one was thinking about Hybrid Camrys and it would be faster than the old V-6 ones.

Amazing.

Damn, 7.3 is pretty good. A little slower than what I'm used to but definitely doable with the awesome fuel mileage. And it's about $5k less than the Accord hybrid too. Will definitely have to give the Camry a second look.

Impressive. Given increased congestion and road rage even the average Camry driver now needs this performance just to merge onto the highway!

Hmmm...its pretty crazy to say that a Camry might be able to hold its own against a GS400. Thats kinda nutty.

haah...we all know this. I'm just using it as an example as to how far the Camry has advanced in the past 5-9 years. Its impressive.
