Smile Goodbye 97 SC300 5spd, hello HONDA?!?!

As many of yall know, i finally said goodbye to the 97 SC3 5spd that took me a year to find back in the days. That car was a classic and my first real big car purchase and it was as reliable as anything I could imagine. Unfortunately, I ran over a curb and airbags deployed and insurance decided to totalled it.

I just got back from picking up a mint 05 GPW Honda S2000. I drove it home w/ the top down in like 40 degree weather and heater on full blast. Even though I froze my *** off, I cant wipe the grin off my face . WHAT A CAR! I absolutely luv it. It is an entirely different car from the SC but why didnt anyone tell me how fun it is to drive these things??? I'm also shocked at how well the interior is in terms of quality and feel. I was expecting bare minimum but found it is actually quite good - especially the cockpit that fits like a glove. I'm not even familiar with driving it yet, there's quite a learning curve and I can't imagine how fun it'd be at its full potential. Yes I know what you all are going to say... I drive a HONDA now... but what can i say?... I'm in LOVE!

congrats on the new car... you must not be the claustraphobic type.

I can barely sit in a parked S2k for a minute before I start freaking out.

Congrats !! Fun little car, great choice I probably would have bought one myself had I not find it to be a little small for me to be sitting in it for an extended period of time.

I had a 2000 s2k and a 2002 s2k. Just take it easy at first, its not a easy car to drive fast. I have seen many of them totaled. Be very careful of the vtec in the rain. Let it warm up before you vtec or it will cut you off. And most important HAVE FUN!!!

Hell I came from an integra to a SC and feel like it was a downgrade for the most part. Its heavy, slow, gets crappy gas mileage, and the toyota rubber turns to plastic after a few years (causing oil leaks and such). I just hope and pray the turbo turns it around.

What did you do with the 97 5 speed? I hope you bought it back off the insurance company so one of us lunatics on here can have at it. I remember your thread when the incident first happened and I recall the damage was fairly minimal. Let us know.

Wow. So, should I assume you bought the SC primarily to swap it?

funny how u mention claustraphobic cuz first time i sat down in it i was a lil queezy. but since then i've gotten used to the cockpit and its lik 2nd hand nature after just a few hours. i know about the tailspins and the fishtail and wet/snow conditions... as well as misshifts due to closeness of the gears. which all makes it hard to drive. the revs and vtec happens so fast u really gota be on ur game to drive it at its potential. for now, i'll just do a bunch of detailing while i get use to the car.

as for the SC. i thought about buyin it back but insurance took so long to pay me in the end i was fed up w/ it and just gave up and took the check just to be done w/ it. it was a shame because that car had no body/structural damage and was driveable other than the cost of replacing airbag and windsheild...etc.

i will drive the S2k till the new Supra comes out ... hopefully Toyota can learn to make their cars fun again

Well you being a bit unfrair here. First of all you need to specify what kind of Integra you had - if you had an LX then its pretty lame, but GSR and TypeR are in completely different zone.

Then you got SC300 which is sloooooow, but then there also SC400 which is pretty quick., and then also keep in mind that SC is a luxury coupe. Take it's base car for instance, the Supra, and there's simply no comparison to the Integra.
