New Studebaker?
#3
Studebaker also made an suv that look identical to the H2's, I'm not sure if this is the same one but GM made a lawsuit or something out of it saying that Studebaker was trying to copy their design.

It would be very interesting to see the Studebaker name come back. The old Studebaker-Packard company went out of buisness in the mid-1960's ( Packard folded in the late 50's ) but not before building some interesting cars with advanced features. The compact Studebaker Lark and mid-sized Hawk were the first mass-produced American-designed sedans to have front disc brakes. Previously only the 1948 Tucker Torpedo ( 51 were built ) and some Corvettes had them. The Ford Thunderbird introduced them in the early 60's ( my dad had one ).
The beautiful, aircraft-inspired Avanti was introduced in 1962, and many people ogled over it just like they did the Jaguar XKE at the time. Eventually, though, costs got the best of the company and it folded in 1965-66. The former Studebaker factory at South Bend, IN was bought out by a long succession of owners to keep the Avanti name going with expensive, hand-built cars with Chevy 5.7L (350 cu. in. ) V8's. ( The original Avanti had a supercharged 289 cu. in. V8 ). The factory has intermittently operated and shut down numerous times since the mid-1960's, and moved to Toldeo, OH.
I'd like to see a retro Studebaker Hawk....it was a stunningly beautiful car. Here are some pictures:
