G37, M37, FX37 trademarked by Nissan!
So, I happened to be on the US Trademark website for work, and punched in "G37" just for the hell of it. And lo and behold, it came up as being trademarked by Nissan on January 26, 2006!
"M37" and "FX37" were trademarked on the same date.
This pretty much confirms that the rumored 3.7L "FZ" engine is going into the G, M, and FX. And that they will change their moniker to correctly reflect the size of the engine.
Check it out.

Good find.
Though I wish they would discover modern technology, instead of the old fashioned bore and stroke. Where is the hybrid tech? Will they have direct injection, like the competiton is moving too?
And besides the fact those letters of the alphabet suck, so do the numbers. 37, it sounds so stimulating

Sometimes adding a lttle displacement can result in no worse fuel economy as similar power is developed at lower rpms.

It's all conjecture at this point.
But it's rumored to have about 320 hp, probably with direct injection. And probably coupled with a 6 speed auto.
I think of it as similar to how Lexus is boring and stroking the 4.3 UZ to a 4.6 UZ, but with significant improvements so that it's not simply a displacement increase.
G37 doesn't sound as fly as G35, but people will probably get used to it after a couple years.
So... what's first? M37 or GS350?

This is a company though, that still does not follow the new SAE guidelines. They also have almost no interest in alternative technology.
Sales for the brand have been down 4 consecutive months. The other thing is torque, will they regain it or lose more of it? The 3.5 has been stretched to 300/298 hp but it was higher in the RPM range and the torque was lost in the process.
Whatever the case, this engine pretty much can do no wrong, on the the best engines made by any auto company and I am sure at 3.7 liters, more power will come.

Any news on a new V-8?

G37 doesn't sound good at all, they should still call it the G35 with the 3.7 engine, or just call it G40 heck BMW name their cars with the 4.8 engine 550 & 750, so you can cheat a little

Those are truck engines, and although based on the same block, they differ from the car engines like the VQ35. You won't be seeing the VQ40 in any Nissan cars, because it's a truck engine.
And even though Toyota's 4.0L V6 shares the same fundamental GR engine block as Toyota's new 3.5L V6 and variants, it differs in several ways, such as lacking low friction cams, and lacking dual VVT-i.
The G35's economy right now is nothing to be excited about. If fuel economy becomes worse with this bigger 3.7L rumoured "FZ", than it won't be a welcome addition in my view.
