Default Geneva World Debut: Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG and CLK63 AMG

STUTTGART — Mercedes-Benz said on Wednesday that the upcoming 76th Geneva International Motor Show will be the setting for the world debut of the high-performance CLS63 AMG and CLK63 AMG models. The company said it would also unveil the face-lifted SL-Class and its AMG versions, the SL55 AMG and SL65 AMG. For the new GL-Class, Geneva will host the international premiere of the GL320 CDI and GL420 CDI diesel models.

The new CLS63 AMG, which Mercedes-Benz describes as a "four-door coupe," is powered by a 6.3-liter V8 AMG engine, which was developed entirely by Mercedes and AMG. The new 514-horsepower AMG power plant is mated to an AMG seven-speed transmission with automatic or manual-style shifting. The car sprints from zero to 62 mph in 4.5 seconds and has a governed top speed of 155 mph. The CLS63 AMG also has a new sport suspension.

In the CLK63 AMG coupe and cabriolet models, the AMG 6.3-liter V8 engine produces 481 hp sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed automatic transmission. The CLK models have the new AMG suspension and new 18-inch AMG alloy wheels.

Mercedes-Benz said the GL420 CDI's new V8 diesel engine makes 306 hp. The GL320 CDI makes 224 hp. All engine versions of the GL are equipped with the seven-speed automatic, the company said.

What this means to you: It's not likely that the diesel versions of the GL will show up in the U.S. — but who cares when the high-performance AMG models are on the way?

I'd rock the CLS63 AMG
Never a fan of the current CLK.

Is it just me or did they outdo the wood in the cabin a bit to much? i mean around the switches and the dashboard.

I find it strage that they would use so much wood on the dash, but none on the doors.

The wood reminds me of some of the mid 80s to early 90s Mercedes.

These new rims dont do anything for the CLS, the current CLS55 rims look better. However they look great on the CLK(remind me of M6 rims). I'm definitely in love with both of these models.

Will they make a Bi-Turbo V12 (65) for the CLS? Or is that only reserved for the flagship cars?

The wood in that car is badly appointed , nothing on the doors, to much on the dash, and wrong wood type. Interior turn off.

Yes I agree it's weird they don't put wood trim on the doors, & that the shape of that plank on the dash it's not the most appealing. But you can get the more polished kind of wood as an option if that's what you're referring to.

The CLS has grown on me a lot, to the point that I can see myself owning one. The only thing that would hold me back is the possible quality/electronics issues that would be unacceptable for such a high priced car . . .

I just don't like the lines of the CLK compared to the old one. I do love the CLK-DTM but that car is like a different car.

I love AMG wheels, they just have great OEM wheels.

Wait a minute, whats up with everyone going with split spokes now

oh andrew, go to dealership and sit in the cls, you will be even more impressive. imho it's so much better than the e class

i am still a bit reserved on the rear of the cls (the curve and the trunk), but overall i think it's a super nice car
